It wasn't your Microsoft Account! It was the underlying Windows 10 Local account that corrupted, all you had to do is create a new Local Account, and then add the MS account email to it and it should have worked again.

We help people here every day solve account corruption by creating a new Local Account, if it works properly then move your files over, delete the old MS account, which frees up the email address to add to the new Local Account making it your new MS Account.

    Does it make sense now?

If the local Admin Account works then you can move your files over via c:\Users, delete the MS Account in Settings > Accounts > Family & Other Users, then move it to the new Local Account by adding your the MS Acct Email address in Settings > Accounts > Your Info > Sign in with a MS Account Instead.

You can also change the existing MS Account to a Local Account at Settings > Accounts > Your Info > Sign in with a Local Account Instead. This frees up the MS email address to add to the new Local Account, and keeps your old MS Account as a backup, or until you get everything moved over.

Hi Otter. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

Did you try removing it in netplwiz, restart PC, then go back and set it up again: https://www.tekrevue.com/tip/skip-windows-10-lo...

The account is likely corrupted. You can Test a new account by creating a new Local Admin account in Settings > Accounts > Family & Other People > Other. See here:

How to create local account on Windows 11 • Pureinfotech

Sign into the new account, set up netplwiz to test if the problem persists, if not then move your files over, test that all programs work or else reinstall them, then when ready delete the old account in the same place.

You can then change then new Local Account to your Microsoft account if desired in Settings > Accounts > Your Info > Sign in with a MS Account Instead.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
