Windows 11 New Media Player

Hello!

I used Groove Music.

Today, I received the new Media Player which replaced Groove Music.

It correctly found my music and videos as I have included them in the Libraries.

Unfortunately, it is buggy.

For instance, when I click on Artists, it says that it could not find any content.

Also, it stucks when I click on an artist or album

Do you have similar issues?

Should I just wait a little bit, maybe they are going to provide updates and fixes?

I have tried resetting the app 2 times, but still the same problems.

EDIT [19.5.2022]: There was some improvements in my experience with Media Player.

Some day ago, the Media Player started anew. FIrst, it scanned again from scratch my Music library.

For 5-10 minutes, it used a lot of CPU and RAM. Then when it was done, I could see the Artists and it did not say that it couldnt find any music.

But still it is not completely stable. Very often, when I click on an Album or Artist, it freezes or crashes.

So, still I am anxiously waiting if it will get stable in the future.

But for now, I am happy that I can listen to music again.

DId this update also happen to you?

EDIT [11.9.2022]: Overall, my experience with Media Player has improved a lot.

Now, I can play all my music.

There are now 3 issues remaining as I can see them at least:

  1. Often, when I click to play an album, it freezes. I have to close and restart the app, and then I can play the same album. The same album appears when I click on the Home link.
  2. I also noticed this error: The run times of albums and others, are wrong! They do not show the actual value as I inspected them.
  3. Unfortunately, and this has not been addresses to me so far, I do not have Artists art. Wherever there is an artist, it just shows nothing. In Groove Music, I used to have those and they were beautiful.

    Today, I received the new Win11 Media Player instead of Groove.

    On my PC (Desktop) the App does not find any Music File in the included Libraries, which I successfully used before in Groove.

    I am loosing confidence in Microsoft products day after day...

    "WE COULDN'T FIND ANY MUSIC"

    Yes, I also have the same problem. It won't find any of my music, despite it working in Groove Music. The libraries are correctly set. I even tried removing them and adding them again to try to force the app to rescan the drive. All to no avail. Anyone have an answer for this?

    This app is broken, and I have contacted support and they have no idea how to fix it. Here are some odd things I found.

    to this day the application on the back end is still called zune
    Media Player runs out of the folder
    C:\program files\windowsapps\microsoft.zunemusic_11.2112.40.0_x64_(random characters)

    the database is located here
    users(your user name)\local\pakages\microsoft.zunemusic_(random again)\localstate

    I have found smaller folders work..aka adding a simple artist\album

    I have add a genre of music folder aka Industrial\artist\album

    Adding music stops the seach, you can watch the database file grow in local state until you add just the music folder, then it stops.

    Event log is not generating errors and sys internals shows it is still attempting to ready but then just stops reading. I have not found any certain file type or folder name causing the issue. Hope this helps someone else dig further then I did.

    Same problem for me. : "We couldn't find any music." I used to use Groove without any problems. Get this update from the "Masters" at Microsoft India and it can't even list my music.

    If I go into "settings" and remove my music folder and re-add it it will start to compile my music again. Some time later and everything is gone again and : "We couldn't find any music." This is the basics of application functionality and testing MS are getting wrong here.

    Also it keeps adding back onedrive/music. If I remove it, it adds it back. I this Microsoft or Apple now?
