Windows 11 New Media Player

Hello!

I used Groove Music.

Today, I received the new Media Player which replaced Groove Music.

It correctly found my music and videos as I have included them in the Libraries.

Unfortunately, it is buggy.

For instance, when I click on Artists, it says that it could not find any content.

Also, it stucks when I click on an artist or album

Do you have similar issues?

Should I just wait a little bit, maybe they are going to provide updates and fixes?

I have tried resetting the app 2 times, but still the same problems.

EDIT [19.5.2022]: There was some improvements in my experience with Media Player.

Some day ago, the Media Player started anew. FIrst, it scanned again from scratch my Music library.

For 5-10 minutes, it used a lot of CPU and RAM. Then when it was done, I could see the Artists and it did not say that it couldnt find any music.

But still it is not completely stable. Very often, when I click on an Album or Artist, it freezes or crashes.

So, still I am anxiously waiting if it will get stable in the future.

But for now, I am happy that I can listen to music again.

DId this update also happen to you?

EDIT [11.9.2022]: Overall, my experience with Media Player has improved a lot.

Now, I can play all my music.

There are now 3 issues remaining as I can see them at least:

  1. Often, when I click to play an album, it freezes. I have to close and restart the app, and then I can play the same album. The same album appears when I click on the Home link.
  2. I also noticed this error: The run times of albums and others, are wrong! They do not show the actual value as I inspected them.
  3. Unfortunately, and this has not been addresses to me so far, I do not have Artists art. Wherever there is an artist, it just shows nothing. In Groove Music, I used to have those and they were beautiful.

    I just started using PotPlayer. Weird name, but so far so good. I still use the old Windows Media Player for ripping CDs, but had to give up on the new Windows music programs. Simply awful.

    Do you still see the Track and Album views OK? I do, but the artist view is borked.

    I just started looking at alternative.

    MediaMonkey looks quite impressive, and stable. Gives tons of info also about albums artists etc.

    Not a bad interface either.

    Maybe it will do until MS fix Media Player (If they ever acknowledge theres an issue)

    I'm currently on Build 22000.588.

    **** I N G garbage app and MS wont even let us know when they plan to fix it. my whole library wont show up so I just use amazon to listen to music now since this app is useless.

    Same with me as everybody else. I guess at least I'm not the only one. Say what you like but I actually liked Groove once they got it working ok. But this has been a huge step backwards. I can't find any notes at all about when or if they are fixing this.

    My media player goes through the folder scanning ok, and builds the song, album and artist views, then suddenly - bang! The artist view disappears and says can’t find any music.

    The album and song views are still there, but media player can still be using my cpu (a 6 core 12 thread ryzen 5000 cpu!) up to 46% for ages. Disk scanning still goes on, and the underlying media database is fully populated, cause I’ve looked at it.

    Tried resetting, reinstalling the app, no use.

    My music is on a separate internal hd from windows in an \artist\album structure. About 128gb music.

    Groove didn’t have a problem with it. Only this new ‘improved’ product does🤪
