Files have a brown box on their icon and dont open in Windows 11

What is going on here? There is no information anywhere so it obviously isnt a problem for everyone.

Most of my files stored on Dropbox now have a small brown file box icon on the lower left corner of the main icon for all MS Office files. They open perfectly well on the phone and a laptop running Windows 10 but not on my laptop running Windows 11.

I get an error message saying the program cant open it because the file is unsupported or may be corrupt.

Why the **** do they release an OS that doesn't work with their own programs??

Please help,

Thanks

I had the same problem. I just shut down my computer and restarted and that solved my problem.

    Hello

I have trouble accessing my folders and files because of that little brown file box icon on the bottom left corner on the majority of my stuff saved.

I've tried the usual answers I found in the help support, and also have tried deleting them, which apparently I'm not allowed to do either??? Why would this even be changed to begin with is incomprehensible and ridiculous, without mentioning those forced updated that are not welcome/not needed in my case. I need advise on how to remove this block on MY property!

any ''easy'' step to follow out there?

    thank you

So by "running" you mean "syncing"? I turned the sync OFF because it has caused such a nightmare for me. I just bought a new computer with Windows 11, and this problem started then. Are you thinking that if I turn on the sync, get these brown box photos 'synced", that they will be fine if I turn the sync off? Or they will go back to being unaccessible?

    Thank you!
