Find network access credentials windows 10 or 11

I've been running my local (wired) network with password protected sharing turned off.

To reduce the risk of infection I've now turned it on on all the pc's.

The result is that I am now unable to access any of the machines on the network (running windows 10 or 11)

I need to input the username and password

However using whoami locally to get the username, and entering the pin as the password I get

"the username or password is incorrect"

trying to access another machine I get "\XXXXX is not accessible. ... etc."

Is there a simple way I can turn on machine A and determine what credentials are required to access it from another PC via the network?

    This seems to be a known issue with Windows 11. If you log in to the client system (the pc from which you are trying to access the shared folder) with a local account instead of a Microsoft account, you should be able to access those files. Another person mentioned the issue here:

    I tried everything. Local accounts, ms account, simply would not work. I had to "fix" it by purchasing an NAS box. Now all my pcs can access the networked drives using the same drive letters across the board.

    There is no "CREDENTIALS" . There is Creential Manager on Windows 11, but when you click that you have the choice of Web Credentials and Windows Credentials. Neither allows you to see the password. I cannot connect from Computer 1 to Computer 2 because I don't know what Username and Password the network connection wants. Nothing I have and used works.

    One additional point. When I go to computer 2, I can connect to Computer 1 without entering any Username or password. I am able to compare and synchronize two folders on different computers. I cannot do this if I connect from Computer 1 to Computer 2.

    I' m not sure why I was notified on this answer. I only have 1 computer on my network. It seems I access files on my hard drive through the network instead of directly on the computer.

    Another issue was need credentials to access my data on a USB device connected to my router. I finally figured out it wanted the admin password!
