Have to hate Microsoft as phone hack didnt work for me either
Find network access credentials windows 10 or 11
I've been running my local (wired) network with password protected sharing turned off.
To reduce the risk of infection I've now turned it on on all the pc's.
The result is that I am now unable to access any of the machines on the network (running windows 10 or 11)
I need to input the username and password
However using whoami locally to get the username, and entering the pin as the password I get
"the username or password is incorrect"
trying to access another machine I get "\XXXXX is not accessible. ... etc."
Is there a simple way I can turn on machine A and determine what credentials are required to access it from another PC via the network?

2024-01-16T20:54:55+00:00 Microsoft what is the answer to this? one day it works the next it doesn't? This is soooo clunky.
This used to work and since Windows 11 it is a shambles. I have wasted hours trying to find the answer to this problem which 328 other people also seem to have.
Please get the basics right and focus some engineers on fixing this core functionality please that we all need and use daily.
Also once you have a proven way to do this please document and make available so every other person in the world doesn't need to create a tutorial for this.
Thanks
Ben

The username is your Microsoft account email
I expected my password to be my Microsoft account password but it wasn't. It ended up being an older password for my Microsoft account. If you've ever changed your Microsoft account password that's probably why it isn't working.
