Find network access credentials windows 10 or 11

I've been running my local (wired) network with password protected sharing turned off.

To reduce the risk of infection I've now turned it on on all the pc's.

The result is that I am now unable to access any of the machines on the network (running windows 10 or 11)

I need to input the username and password

However using whoami locally to get the username, and entering the pin as the password I get

"the username or password is incorrect"

trying to access another machine I get "\XXXXX is not accessible. ... etc."

Is there a simple way I can turn on machine A and determine what credentials are required to access it from another PC via the network?

I used my phone number and account password too and it worked. Never heard of that one. Thanks

Microsoft is doing everything it can to move customers to Apple or LINUX! This endless jacking around with passwords is pissing people off, and nonsensical.

I thought I knew the credentials of my computers, but Network does not allow me access any more, insisting that username or password is incorrect. I now have no network. All my friends insist this is the price I pay for not having bought Macs. Grrr. Can someone help?

I tried all that and nothing worked. Perhaps I forgot something? What I need to do is erase all identifications and start over with all my computers (three). Is there a way to do that?

After weeks of frustration and denial of access, I'm sharing what has worked lately for me, with zero confidence that it will not be negated by some update somewhere, sometime.

    whoami returns computer name/username

After much trial and error, what is working for me at this moment is to enter my username (only) in the user name blank and my Microsoft account password in the password blank.

    Here's hoping...
