Windows 11 widgets; how to remove these annoying news feed windows in the Widgets panel?

When hovering over or clicking on the Widgets shortcut the panel appears with ~50 of these stupid little windows all showing news feeds.

I don't mind the weather and a very few other widgets that show something useful but all of these news panels are pointless, annoying, and really leaning me more towards going back to Windows 10 where I can have real Live Tiles again without this excess junk.

How can we really customize this panel and remove all these unwanted news panels?

I have closed them with the upper-right 'X' which leaves them blank until the next time the panel opens.

I have chosen to 'Hide stories' from at least 100 different news agencies, but they continue to appear.

I have gone through the MS account 'personalize your interests' option to remove all possible genres of news.

Nothing removes the amount of windows shown or the genre of news that they continue to show.

I don't want to change what these little windows show, I want to delete the majority of the windows altogether so that only 4 or 5 at the most are there.

And why are these limited to these news feed type windows; weather, stocks, etc?

Why can't we create custom application shortcut widgets like in old Windows 7 & 8.1 add-ons with advanced options?

    Thanks, my trackpad quit working because Asus had the forethought to have the f6 key disable it. Don't know what I rolled over with the mouse while trying to fix it, but microsoft "News" kept popping up making me even more frustrated. I almost gave up and got my chromebook. Hopefully this solved the problem. All they seem to talk about is trump anyway. I'm a bit tired of hearing about him. Thanks aging. You should really be able to control how it is displayed. It would not be so bad if I could read it when I want like google news.

    I have disabled widgets but every time I touch the left edge of my screen the news widget still opens and shows me MSN news. "Swipe to go back" is arguably the most common gesture in use on earth due to it being implemented as such on android and iOS.

    Please tell me that on my Surface Pro this gesture can be reassigned to do the same thing it does on my phone...

    It worked like a dream.

    I wanted it GONE. And yes, I did not just want it hidden. I did not want it using my computer resources (without my permission. we could all do with less powerful machines, or keep machines longer)

    As someone further down mentioned: the feed is garbage. It serves only to be an ad delivery service for Microsoft, so they can make some $$. If I want to distract myself with " Will Smith slapping someone at the Oscars"...or some other thing, I can use the Interwebs and search myself.

    This is completely true the news and other widget are a waste consuming resources and are not able to be removed.

    The replys stating the obvious that the Design is flawed are hidden or ignored.

    From everything I've found thus far, there's no way to disable the actual newsfeed and still keep the widget board to use the true widgets like weather and traffic.

    Nothin' more than liberal propaganda, celebrity drama queens, and clickbait baddies -- so sick of this BS!

    liberal propaganda? Come on now, be serious in this thread. I'm getting smashed with Fox news tiles... why make it political in here. Sheesh
