Hi this post is to help people with windows 10 and 11 windows security not working

On windows 11 do this

  1. launch powershell as an admin
  2. Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted
  3. Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
  4. Set-ExecutionPolicy restricted

IGNORE THE ERRORS

on windows 10 do this

  1. launch powershell as an admin}
  2. run get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage
  3. if it doesn't work do this
    4) run Add-AppxPackage -Register -DisableDevelopmentMode "C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI_cw5n1h2txyewy\AppXManifest.xml"
  4. run get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

    Exact same issue. I had trouble with my photoshop saying "There is a problem with the Generator" and a solution was related to windows security.

    That's when I discovered I have a problem opening Windows Defender with the "You'll need a new app to open this windowsdefender link".

    Same scenario as the above mentioned. Admin account on the same PC works fine, Local account have the photoshop and defender issue.

    Tried running the powershell command, didn't work.

    So I tried temporarily setting the local account into an admin account.

    Ran the powershell command again (by the way I tried setting it to safe mode, turns out, the command doesn't run on safe mode)

    and that fixed it for me. The windows defender issue at least. Still have the photoshop issue to contend with.

    This worked perfectly on Windows 11.

    Logging in to other user accounts didn't give the error except on the main user account, but after the powershell command, it launches on the problematic.
