Hi this post is to help people with windows 10 and 11 windows security not working

On windows 11 do this

  1. launch powershell as an admin
  2. Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted
  3. Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
  4. Set-ExecutionPolicy restricted

IGNORE THE ERRORS

on windows 10 do this

  1. launch powershell as an admin}
  2. run get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage
  3. if it doesn't work do this
    4) run Add-AppxPackage -Register -DisableDevelopmentMode "C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.SecHealthUI_cw5n1h2txyewy\AppXManifest.xml"
  4. run get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

    i got this error......

    Reset-AppxPackage : The term 'Reset-AppxPackage' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or

    operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try

    again.

    will this still work and will it be fine if I just don't turn execution policy to restricted?

    Still looking for answers? I was too. None of the Powershell fixes worked for me.

    I finally found my fix here: https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/need-new-app-open-windows-defender-link/#download

    The downloads listed are not hosted by Microsoft but they are properly signed my Microsoft and scanned clean for me.

    Basically I had to redownload and reinstall both Microsoft.UI.Xaml (Microsoft.SecHealthUI_8wekyb3d8bbwe.appx) and Microsoft.SecHealthUI (Microsoft.UI.Xaml.2.4_2.42007.9001.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe.appx)... afterward the Security app opened as it should.
