Windows 11 - Microphone icon in system tray

Hello.

I was wondering, is there any way to completely get rid of the microphone icon on the system tray without including adding it onto the "Show hidden icons"?

It's really annoying having that.

    Dear JosephT71,

    I understand from you that in a number of states (so not all) OF THE US it is part of the law. And that that is done to protect against idiots who want to spy on their spouses.

    But why the <censored> should I WHO DOES NOT LIVE IN THE US and who only has windows 11 on a WORK laptop only I use (so no spouse to protect) be FORCED to comply to those rules which are made for the US and not my country.

    I want it gone from my taskbar, it annoys me the heck, since I can already see that I explicitly mute / unmute myself in Teams (the only app where I need my mic for). Why have the info also on the taskbar overlapping with other icons.

    The US should not treat the rest of the world as part of the US. So don't use that bs as a defense for a bad design.

    /*edit*/ Idea: lets take this and other things where Windows 11 removes my freedom of choice to the European Council. Trust me, that means that Microsoft will undo these bad design choices quickly if they remember similar rulings when they tried to force Internet Exploder as the one and only browser for everybody.
    This has nothing to do with the core of the operating system, but they are just trying to control my choices. Bad MS.

    You cannot get rid of it because it is a safety issue.

    It's similar to webcam indication light that tells you the webcam is operating.

    The only people asking to get rid of the microphone icon is people who are trying to secretly record somebody's else conversation (which is against the law in a lot of states).

    This a) does not help the conversation at all and b) I use NVIDIA Shadowplay to record everything 24/7, which deletes all recordings unless I say so. I know it's recording me, it just takes up unnecessary space. Maybe don't assume **** you do not know, thanks

    Yeah, totally praticle. Being able to disable it wouldn't be the most pratical solution. MS had this option and now they remove it.

    If Voicemeeter or Shadowplay is recording 24/7, then take it to them --- it's their problem, not Microsoft's problem.
