This is complete and utter BS. The mic icon is ALWAYS on when using 3rd party audio mixing software, which a huge percentage of users do and so it is completely useless for the purpose you say it is stuck on for.
Way to double down on something you have no clue about. US privacy laws do not apply to any software aesthetic changes what so ever regardless of what country the software is being used in. If someone wanted to secretly use my mic to record my environment they would have to have an extremely good reason because just gaining access to a PC with that much control is a major pain in the **** and if they are willing to go that far, it would be no problem to hide the use of it.
Seriously who are your enemies that you're willing to agree and put up with being told "no you can't change that because you are an idiot who can't be trusted with your own protection"?
