Windows 11 - Microphone icon in system tray

Hello.

I was wondering, is there any way to completely get rid of the microphone icon on the system tray without including adding it onto the "Show hidden icons"?

It's really annoying having that.

    You do realise it's not going to do anything to stop someone recording a conversation without the other person knowing because they CANNOT SEE IT, if I am recording on MY computer and not theirs don't you?

    I want to hide the icon on my PC like I could in Windows 10 and previously I am sure I could on Windows 11 but yet again the Tin Foil Hat brigade have stopped me from being able to.

    There is no reason to not allow a user to hide it, no reason at all!

    Just like there is no reason to not allow local accounts, no reason to not have a big button that stop's all telemetry etc but because of "Tin Foil Hat" wearers we are not allowed privacy!

    That is entirely untrue. Hiding your taskbar icon has nothing to do with listening to other people or recording them. so you can stop typing so big. There should be the ability to hide any taskbar icon but the mic is there when a program uses it. I want it gone too, but I am not recording anything, it is just an eyesore when i look that direction. I use the mic, but don't want to see the icon. I like a clean look with minimum icons. I do not even know how to record someone without permission to do so, and wouldn't do it if i did. Your assumption is ridiculous.

    Why have the mic on all the time?

    Because Cortana is listening in the background or they enable "listen to this device" (because some guy on the internet told them to enable it for no reason) or there is some other software activating the mic because of misconfiguration.

    Solve this issue and the mic icon goes away.

    No point of telling people to disable the mic for no legitimate reason. You are not solving their problem.
