Hello.
I was wondering, is there any way to completely get rid of the microphone icon on the system tray without including adding it onto the "Show hidden icons"?
It's really annoying having that.

Well imho you're the one that completely missed the point of this thread.
There people (like me) that use applications (for instance Voicemeeter) which uses the mic 24/7 and just be annoyed by the icon. Nobody mentioned to secretly record somebody. Therefore I put these sentences in big fonts.
Windows 10 made it possible to hide the icon so why did MS remove it?
PS: Stop accusing people of crimes because it's also illegal ;)
You do realise it's not going to do anything to stop someone recording a conversation without the other person knowing because they CANNOT SEE IT, if I am recording on MY computer and not theirs don't you?
I want to hide the icon on my PC like I could in Windows 10 and previously I am sure I could on Windows 11 but yet again the Tin Foil Hat brigade have stopped me from being able to.
There is no reason to not allow a user to hide it, no reason at all!
Just like there is no reason to not allow local accounts, no reason to not have a big button that stop's all telemetry etc but because of "Tin Foil Hat" wearers we are not allowed privacy!

I care so much about how my tray looks that I made my own icons for Voicemeeter and Razer Synapse so they match the white ones.
Win11 would be perfect for me if I could get rid of that mic icon and the 'Recommended' space in the start menu.
Disable the mic in the sound settings when not using it and the icon goes away.
You completely missed the point of this thread --- they wanted to keep the mic but hide the icon.
Which is impossible because it is illegal in many states in the US to secretly record a conversation without the other person's permission. So Microsoft made sure that there is no way to hide the mic icon. Therefore I put these sentences in big fonts.
So if the mic icon is there, then the end-user is either using the mic themselves or Cortana (or similar some other software is listening in the background). Or the enable "listen to this device" because they read it somewhere on some forum.
it has nothing to do with being some secretive person trying to invade some ones privacy like a spy alot and I mean ALOT of people simply want it gone for the aesthetic.
