Cursor moves to left or selects all text when renaming files in windows explorer. Windows 11

Hi,

I am struggling with a new issue in File Explorer. I have recently updated to Windows 11, but I think this issue has started since this version update.

When I try to rename a file or folder in Windows file explorer, I am unable to place my cursor at a particular point in the filename - eg to insert some letters or numbers.

Instead, wherever I place my cursor, within a second, the whole file name has been selected, which means I start typing a new filename from scratch. This is different to how it has previously behaved, and very annoying.

A related issue - when I am renaming a file saving a file from within a program, a slightly different issue occurs. I put my cursor at the end of a filename, eg,to add a new version number to the filename, but the cursor jumps to the left - to the start of the filename.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

    I'm having this aggrivating issue under Windows 10 21H2 and Windows 11 21H2.

    It is most aggrivating when trying to save a variation of a file.

    For example, saving a variant of itcc-01.png, I manually select the "1"

    itcc-01.png

    Before I can type "2" the cursor will deselect the 1 and leap to the left front resulting in

    2itcc-01.png rather than itcc-02.png

    Over time this becomes more and more infuriating.

    I do use OneDrive.

    I have this same issue on Windows 10. It only started a few months ago, and coincided with me starting to use One Drive for all my work files.

    Please sort it out Microsoft, I keep renaming files as single numbers because all I was trying to do was change 1 character but Windows decided to select all text.

    It's definitely OneDrive. With Windows 11, I have this problem when renaming OneDrive files. On other files, I do not have this problem.

    Whatever they believe is causing this, it is still a bug, and they should focus on fixing it. It is their operating system, their OneDrive, their File Explorer. Incredible that such a bug is allowed to exist.

    not for me - unfortunately

    I observerd it stopps doing that when you have typed your first character.... So quickly add a char and then you have time to rename
