problem installing latest security update kb5005565

Hi. On the latest update of Windows 10 20h2, I could not install the update mentioned in the subject line. I did the trouble shooter, but no joy. then I tried the standalone package, no joy. then, I tried to use my windows entrprise cd to reset windows and it said sorry, we could not determine if your pc could run windows 10. This is a brand new computer, but I did put my previous cwindows that I had on the new computer.

How could Iinstall this update or do the windows reset?

    update to my prior post

    have older machine, wanted to test the media creation.

    so we downloded it, and INSTALLED WINDOWS 10 to the older machine, keeping apps and files (machine already has windows 10).

    ok, it ran for about 3 hours, etc, etc, rebooted, etc.

    OK, finally looks like it got complete install. SO, we then went to UPDATES, just to see if any were avialable; AND, BAD, this same problem update is available, NOT included in the Media Creator file.

    now, on this older machine, it installed ok, but on our NEWER mahcine, that is where the problem was and is, so it is of no use to me to install from the MEDIA CREATOR, because the problem update is not included in the media creator, and i would probably be at the same position of not being able to install that update.

    any feedback appreciated, thanks

    as i posted to a prior post - i looked at the media creator, and it SEEMS that the windows version that is provided is only MAY 2021 ??

    when YOU installed it, was it the LATEST version, including all updates, and if so, do you have the download link?

    ALSO, can the windows-10-install, run FROM the desktop, or do i have to make a bootable USB stick for it?

    and, to anyone using bitlocker, CAN the update be run with BITLOCKER BEING ACTIVE, or does it need to be uninstalled?

    any help appreciated, thanks

    I was finally able to solve this issue by doing a new install of Windows 10. After that, the updates installed smoothly.

    WARNING: check the box to keep your files and programs when conducting the reinstall. I feel this should be reiterated for any users who haven't reinstalled Windows before.

    I was having the same issue, reinstalled Edge and it finally installed KB5005565 successfully.

    thanks for reply, BUT, PROBLEM - when i go to download the UPDATE TOOL, it is telling me that this is for windows 10 MAY 2021 release.

    i already have that, it is these september/october updates that are the problem.

    it appears the the UPDATE tool is behind by several generations.

    any feedback is appreciated.

    ALSO, problem - even if you install windows 10 from the update, and KEEP existing files, your PROGRAMS get blown away and you ahve to reinstall them. we CAN do that if needed, but that is yet another convoluted step in this nightmare.

    if i am missing something, or doing something wrong, please let me know
