"This comment does not meet community guidelines" - so annoying!

In my case somebody was talking about a book and I said couldn't wait to read it and that it was going to be hilarious, then my profile was blocked from commenting. Anything in my comment had any wrong or foul words whatsoever, none. So unfair from MSN not to have the option of explaining why, so I was accused, judged and sent to jail without ever having the chance of defend myself.

I know, I wrote prayers for the relatives of the past school shooting and it said didn't meet community standards, since when condolescenses are inappropriate.

Can someone give a detailed explanation of what exactly we can and can't write in the MSN comments? Totally innocuous and inoffensive replies are frequently denied by the automoderation because "This comment does not meet community guidelines", and you are given no clue as to what specifically was wrong. I had to give up replying to one person because no matter what I tried it just wouldn't let me do it.

Just speculation, but MSN felt that there were so many unacceptable comments a few months ago that they shut down commenting completely for several months. Perhaps they're being overly restrictive in order to avoid a recurrence of that situation.

Who decides what is deemed " appropriate "? Did they feel that your comment bordered on being a 'religious' statement? There are times when you have some "hope" if they review your comment and decide if it meets their guidelines. And you're right, if they do dispute your comment, can't they at least say why? There's got to be someone at Microsoft we can talk to about this. There's got to be dozens or hundreds of people reading these comments all of the time. Maybe one person might view comments differently than another person.

I tried to reply to the article about the guy with the sprinkler keeping people off his lawn. I literally wrote. I like it but some communities out west will fine you if you run your sprinklers during the day. How does that not meet their guidelines????? I found that if I didn't reply, and broke the comment up into several parts, I was able to post it. I like it when all you do is reply "I don't think that's a good idea" and it doesn't meet their guidelines. But you're reading comments that are abusive, bullying, advocate genocide, etc. but those somehow met the guidelines.
