'YES' button on UAC prompt is absent.

There are lots of questions on this on line but no answers which actually work.

The problem is that I was trying to fine a way of saving config files in Microsoft FSX. Everytime I got a 'you're not permitted' response. Then an emergency cropped up and I left what I was doing. When I returned it seemed the PC had decided to do its own thing but I now believe it did a windows update.

The result was that whenever I want to do anything the UAC prompt appears asking me if I really want to. The trouble is the 'YES@ button has disappeared and no offered cure works because the UAC Prompt appears when I try - minus the 'Yes' button so the only option is 'NO'!.

I'm STUCK. Does anyone have a solution that really works - I can't even do a system restore.

    Hi neilpzz,

    1 I have created a password which is accepted.

    2 It has never been a problem to open Command Prompt, no UAC prompt appears/ Getting there is via the Administrators accont which is the only choice. No password is accepted though but just a blank is okay. .

    Going back, where the Command Prompt choice is offered (In Advanced Options) Ther is a System Restore option. I seem to remember trying this previously but it raised the UAC prompt without the yes button (I may be wrong here)

    Now I am taken straight to System Restore and I could continue I reckon.

    The UAC prompt without yes button still appears with other actions.

    Okay. This is the latest release this year. I wanted to check to be sure you didn't have an older version of Windows 10.

    Two things I want to try just to eliminate them.

    1. Add a password to the current local account.
    2. Use the built-in recovery environment in Windows 10.
    3. Go to Control Panel in the address bar of Control Panel type Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts (so replace all the text in the address bar) and press return. This will open to highlight your account details and there should be an option to select to Change password, or perhaps Add password. Select that option and add a password to your current local account.

    Be sure you record the password you have chosen and you may have to use a combination of certain characters/number/special characters. Sign out and sign-in again or restart the computer. (Start > Power > Restart)

    1. Select Start, hold down the Shift key and select Restart. At the Troubleshoot menu select Advanced options > Command Prompt. Does selecting Command Prompt require use of the UAC prompt, or can you enter the Command Prompt without having to select the option? You can close the Command Prompt and exit back to the first option screen and select to Exit and continue to Windows 10, or just power off and power on again.

    Report back on what happens with 1 & 2. I'm hoping adding a password to your current local account will correct the UAC message. If not see if you can enter the Command Prompt in the Recovery environment.

    Sorry Juh, I was trying to conceal the fact I had forgotten how to raise the privileges box. I'm being a bit slow I know but it's getting near bedtime!!!!

    I do appreciate the effort evryone is making - don't give up on me please.
