'YES' button on UAC prompt is absent.

There are lots of questions on this on line but no answers which actually work.

The problem is that I was trying to fine a way of saving config files in Microsoft FSX. Everytime I got a 'you're not permitted' response. Then an emergency cropped up and I left what I was doing. When I returned it seemed the PC had decided to do its own thing but I now believe it did a windows update.

The result was that whenever I want to do anything the UAC prompt appears asking me if I really want to. The trouble is the 'YES@ button has disappeared and no offered cure works because the UAC Prompt appears when I try - minus the 'Yes' button so the only option is 'NO'!.

I'm STUCK. Does anyone have a solution that really works - I can't even do a system restore.

    If you can use System Restore see what restore point dates are available first. If you didn't have the problem with UAC at a previous point then try a restore to that point.

    System Restore keeps your system as it is but rolls back updates or changes for system level items. If you installed software, made system changes or got a windows update then these will be removed when you restore back to a previous date. (doesn't affect personal files)

    As I've never tried it after adding a password to an account I don't know if your adding a password will be removed but if it completes successfully try to sign-in using your new password first, if not accepted try it blank.

    As I see you are following another users suggestions then finish with those first before the above.

    Do it again, in option 8, change the command to this one:

    net user Administrator /active:yes

    and see if it works!

    I didn't understand your instruction to make the privilege box unmarked. would you spell it out for me please?

    A clean System Restore, What is the difference to an ordinary system restore Juh?
