AnyTech 365 Scam? Search for information.

Working in IT myself I got a couple of reports during the last year about a quite interesting "thing" (I think it's some kind of scam scheme) called "AnyTech 365". It's not your "typical" Microsoft phone call scam but something quite a bit more sophisticated.

Interestingly there is/was only very limited information available on line.

The "thing" (suspected scam) goes like this:

Inexperienced users get prompted with misleading information (probably in the form of advertisement they don't recognize a such) which leads them to download some shady "pc repair software" (the name "Restoro" came up a couple of times). Once they run this software they are asked to contact a "support company" called AnyTech365. The people from AnyTech365 then try to sell them an expensive & long-running subscription for support services, usually costing a couple of hundred dollars (one "victim" reported that they even paid several thousand dollars).

Now the thing is: This company AnyTech365 which is located in Spain acts like a reputable business. So it's not some unknown Indian call center that disappears after a few weeks. They are registered and seem to be in for the long run - giving the impression of a "real" IT service provider. Just that their customers don't seem to become customers "voluntarily" but through very misleading sales practices.

At least this is what it looks like after gathering information from a couple of "victims".

Since there wasn't much information about this (suspected) scam scheme available I posted a similar thread like this in the German language Microsoft Community Forums in December. This lead to reports from more people who felt that they were scammed by AnyTech365 and also to a recation from a public relations person from Any Tech 365 who of course was claiming that they are a legitimate company. (However that person also referred to a certification agency called "App Esteem" which seems to be specialised in the "fake" certifictaion of very shady software - so we probably have to assume that a company that gets certidication from "App Esteem" is probably shady too.)

Anyway, since AnyTech365 seems to be active in a lot of languages & countries I thought that I also post this here in the English speaking community.

So we might get a bigger audience and can gather more information about this suspected scam.

Interesting. The descriptions that you gave about the suspected AnyTech 365 fraud differ quite a bit from those descriptions we have received in the German speaking forums.

There, the scam mainly seems to happen via misleading advertising on webpages while here a lot of people are writing about suspicious emails and about Panda Anti Virus.

However one person also mentioned Panda Antivirus in the German speaking forum. So there is a connection.

It's also noteworthy that Panda and Anytech both are Spanish companies and that AnyTech365 writes on their website that they are the "exclusive help and support provider to all Panda Security users".

I'd love to hear more and especially more detailed descriptions about how you got in contact with AnyTech365, what they told you and what they asked you to pay.

I literally just got an email saying my subscription was expiring today and that the Auto-Renewal will charge me $340.00. I got scared because it had my email AND my name and last name. I've never heard of these people. I went to their website and opened a ticket asking to cancel this - did not give any info beyond my email address and name, and will not give them any extra info. After I sent this, I realized the email came from "******@gmail.com"

Got the same email and also checked my bank account to make sure no funds were removed. I was a Panda user for years ( A one time fee) with no problem then last year I get a message from Anytech365 posing to be Panda, saying it was time to renew which I blew my top over. I made the mistake of calling the number I looked up online and ended up falling for their **** anyway but removed the app, called my bank, had them block any future withdrawals, reported scam to the FBI and installed a legit internet security software. I will now report this email to the FBI's Internet Scam division and my local police department.

I also just got an email from them from ******@gmail.com. It is a scam.
