intel usb 3.1 extensible host controller not present in device manager

Hello Hello,

Hopefully one will be able to help me. I bought an external ssd (crucial x8) i have a laptop with a USB C 3.1 Gen 2 and when i check usb controllers in device manager i only have the 3.0 usb host. look at the screen cap please . The x8 promesses up to 1050mb/sec but since windows sees my 3.1 gen 2 type c usb as a 3.0 usb im only getting half the speed .. I d like to get full speed .. any genius in the room pls ive tried many options with no success.. (going in bios , reinstalling this and that, update drivers..) I just cant get the 3.1 controllers driver to load or else plss plsss help Thank you

    Hey John,

    100/100 with you and i did get caught up in the speed thing... I must admit it is still way faster then a hdd...

    I bought it with high expectations...its like buying a ferrari knowing that the speed limits on the roads will not let you drive it at its full capacity...

    I must accept it the way it is i guess ... 

    I wanted to email Intel support but cannot find a specific email address for support .

    Even the people at acer tech support dont seem to be of any help, they are lost when i start to talk about usb extensible controller...

    on intels site i find only usb 3.0 extensible controller nothing about usb 3.1 .

    How weird, lots of people including you have that 3.1 controller...

    I will keep digging a bit. im tenacious ,,

    This is what I have. I decided to try Chrome and that seems to work with inserting images.

    Well I found the problem with inserting images. It is an extension called uBlock Origin. It is an excellent ad blocker and I use it on all my browsers. When I tried Chrome I noticed that uBlock on there was not the latest version whereas my other browsers had the latest. So I turned off uBlock on a browser and tried to insert an image again and this time it worked. I have contacted the developer and hopefully he will fix it.

    Have you contacted ACER about your issue. If the specs for the computer you bought indicated that it had USB 3.1 on it and it looks like it doesn't, you have a legit beef with them.
