intel usb 3.1 extensible host controller not present in device manager

Hello Hello,

Hopefully one will be able to help me. I bought an external ssd (crucial x8) i have a laptop with a USB C 3.1 Gen 2 and when i check usb controllers in device manager i only have the 3.0 usb host. look at the screen cap please . The x8 promesses up to 1050mb/sec but since windows sees my 3.1 gen 2 type c usb as a 3.0 usb im only getting half the speed .. I d like to get full speed .. any genius in the room pls ive tried many options with no success.. (going in bios , reinstalling this and that, update drivers..) I just cant get the 3.1 controllers driver to load or else plss plsss help Thank you

    Hi pal, it didn’t work .. spent many hours on this .. I’m kinda disappointed .. dunno where to turn to now ..

    The last thing I can suggest to you is to update your BIOS. Since your drivers are the best and up to date.

    Download and install the latest BIOS version from this page, follow the steps with attention and keep the laptop plugged in during the whole process.

    Thanks for the input .. I did use intel utility but it didnt ask me to restart the puter...

    Let me try it now ill be right back

    My drivers are newer ... should i try the older ones in the pack you sent ?

    **Win10 20H2 release has driver issues.**The same thing happened to me on my Dell Latitude 7200 tablet. Lately, when Win10 updates it doesn't bring the drivers with it. I also tried everything, but my card reader, display, two chipset drivers did not update with windows. I went to Intel website and downloaded their driver install tool. It updated all drivers effected and I restarted twice and all is working perfectly now. Go to Intel Website download the 'Inter Driver & Support Assistant. If you have AMD motherboard then go to AMD website and download your drivers. Win10 is having problems in the 20H2 release when it updates it drops your drivers out. Microsoft is aware of this and will address it hopefully.
