At some point, after the May update I lost all PC audio! I've done all the 'no sound' troubleshooting suggestions from Microsoft and everywhere else. I reinstalled all audio drivers, you name it. I even shut down my MSI onboard HD audio in bios and purchased a
Soundblaster Audigy RX sound card, No dice. bought Driver Booster Pro and updated them drivers. Wasted cash!
It's as if the sound just can't get to my output jacks. Foobar doesn't work, NO audio!! You can see the level meters pulse when you test the sound devices. When I unplug the connectors going to my preamp, they pop and buzz so I know the cables to the analog stuff are hot.
I NEED HELP AND I NEED IT FAST!! I'm starting to TWITCH!! I believe it's Microsoft's doing.

2021-07-16T18:37:17+00:00 It appears that monthly patch that failed was causing the following registry key to break.
consolesecurity located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations
The ConsoleSecurity shows as Zero-Length Binary Value
Import the registry key from a working machine (which is the same for all machines I believe) and this has fixed the issue for me.

2021-06-28T21:48:35+00:00 We have this issue as well, changing to Local System Account - got rid of the red x error on all reboots, however no audio could be heard. I had to switch back.

2021-06-22T17:45:58+00:00 We have several endpoints experiencing the same issue. Started after deploying May 2021 patches . After trying several proposed solutions and nothing making an impact, adding the Local Service account to the Local Administrators group. Oddly enough, if I change the "Log On" account for the Windows Audio service to the Local System, Account, then we get our Sound Adapters back.

- All are Dell Laptops, majority being 5400s.

2021-06-14T02:37:06+00:00 Thirding this. The windows updates effectively killed the my audio on one of my PC's. The only usable solution was to restore a backup from before the updated were pushed to that PC.
Microsoft needs to withdraw that update and go back to the drawing board.
