Basically, people

If you tried everything and it didn't work, leave as it is for a month (pause/schedule the updates)

The succeeding updates usually get the problem fixed

Hello how are you?

Welcome to the Microsoft Community!

1-Restart the computer and continue pressing the F8 or Shift + F8 key; the advanced boot screen will open in front of you.

2- Now select "Choose an option" and choose the "Solve problems" option, then go to "Advanced options" and press the number corresponding to Safe mode.

3- After booting the system in safe mode, open the command prompt and run these commands

net stop wuauserv

4- Now you need to go to a mass distribution and delete your content. Go to the next path to find a mass distribution.

C: Windows SoftwareDistribution
Delete all files and subfolders in this folder.

Now restart your computer and the updates could not be completed. Undo changes, do not turn off the computer in Windows 10 will be fixed.

Try the steps above in safe mode.

If it doesn't work, try the solutions below:

If you have an antivirus installed or more than one, I suggest you uninstall it through the Control Panel under the Programs and Features icon or temporarily disable it through the antivirus settings itself.

Note: Many antiviruses have their own removal tool. Visit the Installed Software website for more information. Your system will not be left unprotected because Windows has its own security system that automatically enables it as soon as you restart your computer.

Perform troubleshooting:

1- Go to search, type in troubleshooting and open troubleshooting.
2- Select Show all in the left panel.
3- Open Windows Update and follow further instructions.
4- Restart your computer and try to install the update again.

Hide Windows update

1- Open the Control Panel and click the Windows Update icon.
2- After Windows updates or you check for updates, click link ... update (s) is available.
3- Right-click on a listed Windows Update that you want to hide, then click Hide Update.
4- If prompted by UAC, then click Yes or enter the administrator password.
5- You will now notice that the Windows Update eyepiece is grayed out. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to hide another Windows Update. When finished, click / tap OK.

I await news.

Thank you so much, I have been struggling with this for like 3 months and this finally helped me fix it!!! Once I figured out that Run tab was just clicking the windows button and typing "Run" from SirHardo, everything was smooth sailing!

Though I couldn't delete everything in the folder, I deleted all I could and it worked!! Thank you! Now I don't have to have a reminder every single hour that my computer needs updates!

I don’t know if you reply to these anymore but I have a question.

Is it safe to just ignore the updates completely because I’ve been trying to fix this ‘We couldn’t complete the update, undoing changes’ problem for a while and nothing has helped. I tried everything I could and the issue is still there.

So I’m wondering if it would be fine and safe to my computer if I just don’t bother trying to update the updates.

Would appreciate it if you could reply :))
