In the current environment, we know that you continue to rely on your PCs more than ever. As a result, we are initially taking a measured seeker-based approach to the rollout of the May 2021 Update. We are throttling availability up over the coming weeks to ensure a reliable download experience for all, so the update may not be offered to you right away. Additionally, some devices might have a compatibility issue for which a safeguard hold is in place. In these cases, we will not offer the update until we are confident that you will have a good update experience.

    Ok, I have a problem here, the 21H1 update installed just fine, but then later on that day I got an optional update for the 21H1 *preview*, which is odd, that never came before the official update.

    This is normal. For stable releases, an optional quality update is released every 4th week of the month(known as D release). Regular updates go out on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.

    • The “C” and “D” releases occur the third and fourth weeks of the month, respectively. These preview releases contain only non-security updates, and are intended to provide visibility and testing of the planned non-security fixes targeted for the next month’s Update Tuesday release. These updates are then shipped as part of the following month’s “B” or Update Tuesday release.

    My laptop is now unusable after updating to 21H1 on 25/5 2021. Fingerprint and password logins not working. Corrupt? I have tried many suggestions to enter/reset/repair OS. But keeps asking for Admin password, which it will not accept.

    This update literally killed my PC. Installed pending updates last night, only to wake up to a laptop with boot issues. It won't load up.

    Tried using command prompt to identify any issues and fix them, but in vain.

    Windows sucks big time.

    Roll Back looks promising. Thanks for sharing. I've downloaded and installed the Freeware version as the Pro versions seem to be available only for Educational purposes (Schools etc). Cheers
