We are throttling availability up over the coming weeks to ensure a reliable download experience for all, so the update may not be offered to you right away. Additionally, some devices might have a compatibility issue for which a safeguard hold is in place. In these cases, we will not offer the update until we are confident that you will have a good update experience.

    If it's photos, documents, and other personal files, then save this onto external harddisk, USB-sticks and/or online-drive, like G-drive,.

    I made a folder on my external harddisk with folders for documents, photos, and called it "Files on Dell"... It took some time, but a good thing to do.

    Your experience does give one pause, but I'll still do it because 20H2 came in that way (over 2004) & works fine. It was very quick, right, just turning on switches. I'll give 21H1 one chance to be as nice, then use my 21H1 Installation USB drive to upgrade instead. I do recall 2004 came in badly through Windows Update (but that wasn't just switches), & I did resort to Installation media for the second try. Thanks for the warning, though.

    I think, it's best to use the Upgrade assistant instead of taking the upgrade through Windows Update. Even though, the upgrade 

    arrives there. You can see, also on page 2, how it did go for me, taking it through Windows Update... NOT good!!

    The upgrade-Assistant was better.
