Windows 10 extremely slow after upgrade to version 21H1

So after upgrading to 21h1,It's pretty slow,So if you want to RollBack,You have to Download An ISO file,After downloading it like version 20h2 or 1909,Right click and press on Open with... and then press explorer,and press on setup.exe file,and start follow the instructions on screen.(rollback may take a while)

What surprisingly helped mw most was removing Mcafee altogether.

I tried quite a lot of things before that, and nothing really worked.

The moment Mcaffee was erased - everything went back to normal.

I must admit my problem was not as severe as smoe reported here, but everything was considerably and annoyingly slower, and now it's all back to normal.

TURN OFF BROWSER "hardware acceleration when available" - especially for systems with larges amount of RAM.

I have two windows 10 computers with almost identical specs (both of 64Gb RAM). One is a laptop the other a mini desktop. the laptop works great, and the browsers are all normal and responsive. But on the mini, ALL the browsers are slow - slow to open, slow to load pages, even after open, button clicks are slow to respond. Often, something is gets hung and you see the "(not responding)" appear near/in the url address bar.

Side by side, I would open the same websites on both systems...test on chrome and test on edge. The laptop opens immediately while on the mini it could take 10 to 15 seconds for the page to open.

I disabled all extensions and removed any and all software that could be impacting the mini's browsers. No change.

I compared all browser settings on the laptop to those on the mini....EVERYTHING was identical except ONE setting. On the laptop under "Advanced/System" settings, the "Use hardware acceleration when available" was turned off, but on the mini it was turned on.

I turned that off on the mini, on both Chrome and Edge - and at the moment it seems to have fixed ALL of by browser headaches. I will post back if I observe any more problems. But that one setting, assuming it is final fix, on the Mini has caused me fits for months.

Yes, I agree with some of what you said. But, MS has a history of this. I had issues on the lock screen with not displaying "what the photo is", after an update. Then another update, it came back, then another update is disappeared. It's like they are using wrong versions of the code.

And I thought the whole "WHQL hardware drivers", etc. was supposed to take care of the hardware issue? MS does a call to "Save Data", and the driver code handles that for the specific hardware manufacturer? And I am not taking hardware manufacturers off the hook either. They look for any advantage over other hardware. So they may skirt proper calls to make their hardware seem better. Sigh.

I have also tried disabling hardware, like sound, etc. But no luck. When 20H1 had the issue, I found a post linking sleep settings in the NIC card. I disabled them, problem disappeared. Now, with the new update, they are back again. I have reinstalled the latest build several times. Formatting the drive each time, erasing everything prior. Still same issue. I don't have the money right now to get a new computer, or even a new drive, or I would have done that before.

The problem I have noticed, that I can't resolve is, I run the Task Manager and sort by CPU. The highest it shows is like 30% usage, when system is freezing. But, I have a program, TrayStatus Pro 4.5, that I can view CPU status as well. And when the slow downs and freezes happen, its CPU usage is pegged at maximum, not 30% like in Task Manager. If I could get that info, maybe I could narrow down the issue causing my problem.

I have the same problem. Browser is stuttering and there are freezes when opening new tabs, apps.

Update: Microsoft has fixed this issue. They released a windows update and it fixed it.

Make sure that you are on latest update.

Hello Abhiporwal - Apparently Microsoft did NOT fix it. Today is 9/27/2021 and I just updated last night to 21h1 build 19043.1237 and it started up the old mouse cursor moving slower than Mollases in Antarctica.

I've been through this issue since Windows 10 first came out. Every time there is an update something fails and yet Microsoft won't let me chose to ignore updates., No Microsoft has to force itself on me like a crazed liberal.

It's not that easy to roll back updates in Windows 10 home sometimes that breaks things on its own.

This slow cursor movement is probably the most annoying.

Surprisingly enough when I boot up Linux the cursor works fine - wo go figure!

Microsoft always has some idiot give you a BS trouble shooting path that never works and then when it doesn't work they either blame it on you or go away and never really solve the problem.

Maybe someday Windows will catch on to Linux and realize that updates are to make things better, not break them when they work. Such a concept.
