Windows 10 extremely slow after upgrade to version 21H1

I have just upgraded to Windows 10 Version H21H1 but the system has become extremely slow. When I click on a program icon on my desktop, it takes quite a while for the program to open. And even web pages take a while to open and at times do not respond at all. What could be the problem or do I roll back to the previous version?

    This happened to me as well.  It's been extremely frustrating trying to resolve this problem that occurred right after the upgrade.  

    In my case, after reading dozens of similar posts, I was able to narrow it down by disabling my DVD/CD-ROM Drive in the device manager.  The lag immediately disappeared which of course rendered my dvd/blue-ray inoperable.  

    Updating the driver for the dvd/cd-rom did not work.  Removing / reinstalling the device also did not work.  Physically switching out the dvd/blu-ray for another dvd player did not work.

    What did work - I went to the manufacture of my specific motherboard and re-downloaded the SATA Controller Driver.  Restarted my pc.  Re-enabled my DVD/CD-ROM/Blu-Ray and all the lag has disappeared.  I have restarted my pc several times since then and so far it seems to have resolved it.

    I hope this will also help others.

    Well I know my two AMD based PC's seem really lag now and have tried to update all the drivers. Actually the latest AMD drivers tended to crash graphics on one PC playing videos. I went all in on AMD Ryzen about 18 months ago and now wish I hadn't. I bought a cheap Intel PC desktop just to see if it worked better? Definitely have had no issues with it.

    Same here as well as the later KB50044xx - they keep installing but together with KB5003637 they are the culprit...

    I removed the KB5003637 and things are back to normal.

    It still figures in list of installed updates, therefore removed it again, but in the event-log it says it's changed to absent state.

    Note: This problem was on a Dell XPS 7590.

    I have noticed that after I got installed KB5003637 (which is presented as a 21H1 fix) I have the same issue. Computer is not only slow, but it is not a CPU usage issue. More like a lock or blockage of some event queue.

    I have seen...

    Complete block after adding new tab in edge or chrome.

    Icons very slow to load on facebook.com and scrolling down also halts again and again.

    maps.google.com freeze on zoom-out using touch pad.

    Writing this message actually without any halts at all.
