Whenever I open the Minecraft launcher signed in as my Microsoft account which is my only account it will show me a message that says: "Oh no! Something went wrong, and we couldn't connect to Minecraft Services" and the Play button is replaced with a Play offline button but once I click that to play offline, it will say I need to make a profile even though I have a profile and have been playing the game until this error occurred. But once I click to create a profile, it will sign me into the Minecraft website and bring me to my account profile screen where it will give me the message: "Something went wrong... press reload to try again." and once I click reload, nothing changes. this error happened on Friday, May 28th.

I don't think you can do anything more than simply go to https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/ and buy Minecraft Java from there as that is what I did and I have not had any problems playing Java since. THe windows 7 / 8 launcher began to work when Microsoft or Mojang fixed the 401 error I found in the logfile.
checking the logfile seems to be a good idea if one exists. I only have the java edition. Not the newer versions and I cnnot install Minecraft on Windows 11 since none of my pc's has Windows 11 support (newest pc is from 2015 or 2016)
Oh yeah as for the buy bedrock/java get the other free that only works if you game pass for PC and even then you will have payed for the game in game pass for PC in 3 to 5 months depending on if you can use the get game pass for PC for a $1 for 2 months. And once you stop game pass for PC you lose the other edition of Minecraft.
i have something similar. I open my minecraft java launcher and in the bottom right it says "sorry, could not connect to minecraft services" and it says "play offline" a few seconds later it goes to the normal play button, but i cant access the realms menu or play multiplayer. my wifi is connected too, so...
mine will work , on RARE occasion , this nonsense really has been going on long enough , sometimes it will load and ask me to log into Microsoft, sometimes it just wont do anything , sometimes im able to get logged in but then it says offline only. i can log in EVERY single time on t launcher, anyone who says its illegal does not know what they are talking about. it verifies me via Microsoft then lets me log in . I am a non windows users , friends of mine are not having the same issue but they are on windows and always logged in to their Microsoft account , really hoping at some point they sort it out . i don't get a lot of free time to play and more often then not i spend 30 min trying to get the official launcher to do something and then don't have time or am so aggravated i just don't play. just seems too much like another instance of non windows users getting screwed
