Whenever I open the Minecraft launcher signed in as my Microsoft account which is my only account it will show me a message that says: "Oh no! Something went wrong, and we couldn't connect to Minecraft Services" and the Play button is replaced with a Play offline button but once I click that to play offline, it will say I need to make a profile even though I have a profile and have been playing the game until this error occurred. But once I click to create a profile, it will sign me into the Minecraft website and bring me to my account profile screen where it will give me the message: "Something went wrong... press reload to try again." and once I click reload, nothing changes. this error happened on Friday, May 28th.

Installing the Xbox Console Companion and launching the new minecraft launcher app from this companion app solved the problem for me. For some reason, starting the app manually or from the new Xbox app made so the minecraft launcher couldn't connect to the minecraft services, but from the old app it seems to work.

Just use the old launcher for now. It’s clearly a bug on their end.

Have you migrated to a microsoft account and got a confirmation e-mail for it? Because for me, my Mojang Account doesn't even seem to work anymore. Anyways, like I said, try downloading the Win7 launcher and log in with your microsoft account. (if you have sucessfully migrated and got a confirmation mail) That worked for me.

You can also check if the migration worked by logging into minecraft.net via your microsoft account and checking your account settings. I saw that my minecraft skin was set up correctly and that my expired realm was listed, so I knew the migration worked, but apparently the launcher didn't.

I am still bumping this up, because I am having the same issue.
Bringing something new here: Mojang accounts still work fine, it is just the microsoft accounts that don't.

Microsoft, fix your stuff! This is unbearable!

EDIT: got one fix: restarting your router helped me.
