Very Frequent BSOD's on New PC

Anonymous
2021-04-02T14:30:02+00:00

Happened less frequent when I first got PC in October, has since gotten worse.  Mainly happens when playing games, but sometimes when just using PC.  Sometimes BSODs, sometimes system just totally freezes.  Have probably had the issue close to 20 times this week.

Specs: 10900K, RTX 3080, Corsair 850W PSU, 32 GB RAM.

Let me know if anything else is needed, I am attempting to link the dump files after following instructions.

Don't worry at all Brandon! That's what I'm here for, and I'm sure you'll learn pretty much about it.

First of all, about the drivers, you can download all the drivers and install them. If any of them is already updated, the installation won't go on and it will tell you that "A newer version for this driver is already installed". So nothing bad with installing them all, just in case.

As for the BIOS update, I can understand it's a really scary thing to do and pretty serious, so I'll try to guide you along the process even though you'll see yourself how it is really easy, even for a lego person in the field. For that purpose, we'll use ASUS EZ Flash 3, and we'll follow a tutorial video so everything is clear during the easy process. If there is any error or anything comes up, don't worry at all (this motherboard has a BIOS restoring option: ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3).

You can find the visual steps to update your BIOS using ASUS EZ Flash 3 here: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1012815 . Don't worry, it explains everything.

If there is something unclear, even though I don't think so, you can read your own motherboard's manual about updating BIOS: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1200/P... (page 55 or 3-3 on ASUS EZ Flash 3).

It is not difficult at all and everything is really automatic, so don't worry.

Tell me how it goes, please, and don't worry at all! You got this.

    Miguel Ángel :)

I typically have 3 USB Devices plugged in:

The bluetooth receiver for my Logitech wireless mouse

    My wired keyboard

Another bluetooth receiver for my SteelSeries wireless headset

I will try doing everything you mentioned about updates.  I have never done a BIOS update so I will have to make sure I don't make any mistakes.

Should I download everything on that second link (LAN, Chipset, Audio, VGA Drivers, Software and Utility, SATA, Armoury Crate), or just worry about the chipset, audio driver, and SATA driver?

I don't think I use AURA, but I am not sure how I could check.  The computer came with a small remote that I can use to change the colors of the fan and stuff, but I am not really sure how any of that works/functions.

As you can tell, I am kind of new to having to mess around with a lot of this haha.

EDIT:  I also forgot to mention I have tried MemTest, ChkDsk, the SFC scan, and verifier (which did make my computer blue screen)

    Thank you so much Brandon!

The Bluetooth driver is one that has come to my attention, and also the Logitech drivers, so you telling me that it's a wireless Logitech device makes sense. Try unplugging all those devices and just wait to see if it BSODs again.

Your BIOS version is 1001 (from 2020) and there's already a 1602 version (from January 2021) available for that motherboard. Please, update it from your motherboard's manufacturer site, which is this one: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Mo...

There is as well a chipset update for your motherboard (very important!) which was released yesterday. Download it as well from: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Mo...

In that last link, you can as well find a newer version of the Audio driver and the SATA driver (aka Intel Rapid Storage, very important!), please update all these.

Do you use the AURA software for RGB? If so, please uninstall the software by now for it's known to cause BSOD issues in some devices. Let's just check by now until we can find the exact issue.

Let me know how it goes, please. I'll be here tracking the issue and in case you have any doubt along the process.

    Best of luck,

    Miguel Ángel :)

    Thanks for your response.

I would like to send the PC back, but it would have to be shipped across the country and I am pretty nervous that it would get damaged during shipping.  The customer service has been lacking with the company I purchased it from, I have already dealt with 3 RMAs in regards to the graphics card.  I was hoping the issues were just software related that I could maybe resolve myself with some help.

I do use a Logitech mouse, G Pro Wireless.  Should I unplug that and the keyboard and everything?

In regards to the list of drivers you have provided, how do I go about updating these?

I do not have any antivirus software installed.

    Hey there Brandon!

My name is Miguel Ángel and I'm an independent advisor, also a Microsoft user just like you! I'll try to help you today with your issue.

First of all, it's clear that if the PC is recent and is entirely bought, you should give it back, ask for a refund or a reparation, if it's all bought from any store or company. These issues should not be happening in a new device, that's for sure and by personal experience.

Having said that, I've checked on the minidumps and I've extracted the following information, which may help us during the process:

    0x7f_8_STACK_USAGE_RECURSION_nt!KiPageFault

    0x133_DPC_USBXHCI!Isoch_ProcessTransferEventWithED1 (USB driver issue?)

    CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT_INVALID_CONTEXT_nt!KeAccumulateTicks (x2)

nt!KiPageFault (persistent in more than 15 threads)

First of all, we should take a look at the second error code. There has been a critical transfer issue using the USB driver. Please, do unplug any device connected to the computer while we do the tests (I've seen you're using something from Logitech).

I've seen as well drivers which may probably have some update to do and that may be an issue:

    RTKVHD64 Tue Aug 28 12:55:57 2018 (5B852A3D) [High Definition Audio]

iaStorAC Mon Dec 9 18:26:56 2019 (5DEE83E0) [Intel Rapid Storage, URGENT!]

    iaLPSS2i_I2C_CNL Mon Jul 15 07:12:12 2019 (5D2C0B2C) [Serial IO I2C driver]

    TeeDriverW10x64 Thu Oct 1 09:51:54 2020 (5F758A9A) [Intel Management Engine IMPORTANT!!]

    Netwtw10 Sun Sep 6 14:52:02 2020 (5F54DB72) [Network, check if update]

    rt640x64 Fri May 24 10:47:02 2019 (5CE7AF86) [Realtek PCI(e) URGENT, CHECK]

    ibtusb Tue Sep 1 13:13:02 2020 (5F4E2CBE) [Bluetooth CHECK]

Please, uninstall any third-party software antivirus that you may be using. Software like AVG, Norton and Avast may be causing this.

In order to be able to help you with all the updates you should check and do, please provide me with this information:

    > Motherboard's model (or device model).

    > Windows version (Windows + R > winver)

    > BIOS version (Windows + R > msinfo32)

    > If built, FULL description of the system.

Have you already run a SFC and DISM check? Have you run a CHKDSK test? Have you run your system in both Clean Boot and Safe Mode? If so, how has it gone?

I'll wait for your reply! Don't worry, everything will be okay.

    Hugs,

    Miguel Ángel :)
