Missing CD/DVD Burner

  1. I have a Dell Precision Workstation M4800
  2. This Workstation has an internal CD/DVD RW Drive as follow:    H.L Data Storage Super Multi DVD Writer Model: GS40N (HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GS40N)
  3. Until fairly recently I have been able to Create a System Repair Disc by using this drive and a blank disc.
  4. Now when I try to create the disc I get the following note:    "The System Repair Disc could not be created - Windows did not find a CD/DVD Burner"
  5. So can you please tell me where the CD/DVD Burners gone?

    Those are the correct files.

    In you open "This PC" and right-click the burner > Properties do you see a "Recording" tab (this is where it should show up).

    I opened "This PC", then right-clicked the "DVD Drive (D)", the clicked "Properties". If these were the correct key strokes, then as you can see from below there is no "Recording" tab.

    If you open Windows Media Player > Burn

    Is the burner recognized?

    As you can see below, there is a "Burn" tab, but when clicked gives the following message:

    "Connect a burner and restart the player". 

    So it looks as if there is no burner.

    Does the Roxio software you have installed see the drive as a burner?
