I have a Dell Precision Workstation M4800 This Workstation has an internal CD/DVD RW Drive as follow: H.L Data Storage Super Multi DVD Writer Model: GS40N (HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GS40N) Until fairly recently I have been able to Create a System Repair Disc by using this drive and a blank disc. Now when I try to create the disc I get the following note: "The System Repair Disc could not be created - Windows did not find a CD/DVD Burner" So can you please tell me where the CD/DVD Burners gone?

This happens with me too, but sometimes i get a Device I/O error from Fiole Eplorer. Its a Dell E6420 and the DVD R+W is a MATSHITA DVD R+W UJ8B2. This is the error

I assume it is the Windows 10 operating system. I access the Control Panel, select "File History", then create a "System Image Backup", after which I am asked if I want to create a "System Repair Disc", which I can't do because the Burner can't be found.

In the Device Manager if you double-click the CD/DVD RW drive is there a recording tab?

In Device Manager, if I double-click the CD/DVD RW Drive (HL-DT-ST DVDROM GS40N), I get the following tabs: General, DVD Region, Volumes, Driver, Details and Events. There is no recording tab.

Can you check the following registry key: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer In the adjacent right window is there a "Name" "NoCDBurning" ?
