I replaced the present CD/DVD drive a few week ago in the hope it would cure the problem. Unfortunately it did not.
I have removed and replaced this present drive a couple of since.

It appears the drive has lost the burning capability.
It may help to force a complete re-detection of the drive.
Are you comfortable working inside the case?
Does the Roxio software you have installed see the drive as a burner?
