I have a Dell Precision Workstation M4800 This Workstation has an internal CD/DVD RW Drive as follow: H.L Data Storage Super Multi DVD Writer Model: GS40N (HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GS40N) Until fairly recently I have been able to Create a System Repair Disc by using this drive and a blank disc. Now when I try to create the disc I get the following note: "The System Repair Disc could not be created - Windows did not find a CD/DVD Burner" So can you please tell me where the CD/DVD Burners gone?

Can you check again in "This PC" for a recording tab.

Edition: Windows 10 Pro Version now: 21H1 OS build now: 19043.985 Unfortunately I still cannot create a Repair Disc using the CD/DVD drive, because Windows could still not find a CD/DVD burner. Below, I list a series of observations, which I have made during the course of trying to solve the problem, which might be of some help to you: Dell/F2 at startup – Dell Precision M4800 Settings Boot Sequence shows two “Boot List Options”, Legacy and UEFI. Legacy is the selected option. When I selected UEFI, I ended up with 3 selection options. These were “Add Boot Option”, “Delete Boot Option” and “View”. Initially I ignored these boxes and clicked “Apply” and then “Exit”. Eventually the following appeared on the screen: No bootable devices found. Press F1 key to retry boot. (Nothing changed) Press F2 key for setup utility. (Returned me to Dell Precision M4800 Settings) Press F5 key to run onboard diagnostics. (Run Dell ePSA Pre-boot System Assessment – All tests passed) The only way of exiting the screen was to Press F2, to access the Boot Sequence and then change the Boot List Option back to “Legacy”, then select “Apply” and “Exit”, which booted the computer to the desktop. In the UEFI Boot Option, when the “Add Boot Option”, was selected the options, shown below, were displayed: UEFI Firmware Settings Start/Settings/Update and Security/Recovery/Advanced Startup/Restart now/Troubleshoot/Advanced options. What I am going to suggest at this point is a "repair" installation of Windows 10 which should force the re-detection of hardware and solve any configuration issue: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html As a general precaution back up any critical files beforehand.

Hi auggy, DVD/CD-ROM drive (HL-DT-ST DVDROM GS40N) was uninstalled via Device Manager, and the computer restarted. The Device Manager then showed that the drive had been reinstalled. Tried to create a Repair Disc, but Windows again could not find a CD/DVD burner. I can't find a Recording tab in "This PC", see below:

Can you uninstall the burner via the Device Manager and restart the computer and check again. Also, check the burner in "This PC" for a recording tab.
