Known issues with KB5000802 and KB5000808

Symptom Workaround
System and user certificates might be lost when updating a device from Windows 10, version 1809 or later to a later version of Windows 10. Devices will only be impacted if they have already installed any Latest cumulative update (LCU) released September 16, 2020 or later and then proceed to update to a later version of Windows 10 from media or an installation source which does not have an LCU released October 13, 2020 or later integrated. This primarily happens when managed devices are updated using outdated bundles or media through an update management tool such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. This might also happen when using outdated physical media or ISO images that do not have the latest updates integrated. <br> <br>NoteDevices using Windows Update for Business or that connect directly to Windows Update are not impacted. Any device connecting to Windows Update should always receive the latest versions of the feature update, including the latest LCU, without any extra steps. If you have already encountered this issue on your device, you can mitigate it within the uninstall window by going back to your previous version of Windows using the instructions here. The uninstall window might be 10 or 30 days depending on the configuration of your environment and the version you’re updating to. You will then need to update to the later version of Windows 10 after the issue is resolved in your environment. NoteWithin the uninstall window, you can increase the number of days you have to go back to your previous version of Windows 10 by using the DISM command /Set-OSUninstallWindow. You must make this change beforethe default uninstall window has lapsed. For more information, see DISM operating system uninstall command-line options. <br> <br>We are working on a resolution and will provide updated bundles and refreshed media in the coming weeks.
(KB5000802 only) When using the Microsoft Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) to enter Kanji characters in an app that automatically allows the input of Furigana characters, you might not get the correct Furigana characters. You might need to enter the Furigana characters manually. <br> <br>NoteThe affected apps are using the ImmGetCompositionString() function. We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
After installing this update, you might receive an APC_INDEX_MISMATCH error with a blue screen when attempting to print to certain printers in some apps. Issue resolved with an out-of-band update.
After installing updates released March 9, 2021 or March 15, 2021, you might get unexpected results when printing from some apps. Issues might include:<br><ul style="margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; color: rgba(54, 54, 54, 1)"><li style="margin-left: 0"><p style="color: rgba(30, 30, 30, 1)">Elements of the document might print as solid black/color boxes or might be missing, including barcodes, QR codes, and graphics elements, such as logos.</p></li><li style="margin-left: 0"><p style="color: rgba(30, 30, 30, 1)">Table lines might be missing. Other alignment or formatting issues might also be present.</p></li><li style="margin-left: 0"><p style="color: rgba(30, 30, 30, 1)">Printing from some apps or to some printers might result in a blank page or label.</p></li></ul> Resolved - Install KB5001649 from the links below.

The plot just keeps getting THICKER and THICKER with this problem!  I feel I'm wading into deep water and am up to my neck-- ready to "go under" at any moment. But I'm still floating and searching!

Hoping you did your "backup of important files!  You mentioned boxing day, so I'm thinking you are from Canada?? I'm assuming you are working with a DESKTOP?  Since it's a "built" computer, that model number doesn't help me much.  I also have a no-name built box, running windows 10 HOME.

I see in your screenshot most everything says: Issue not present.  It's just that one bugger regarding the restart!  I don't know why it says: Detected and then completed right underneath.  Clueless on that one!  eh, I'm clueless on lots of things quite obviously!  As I've said before, I'm also trying to learn as I go along.  Sorry you are a guinea pig in this.

As far as the "administrator" question.  How many users and/or accounts are on your computer?   You can find this info in control panel under USERS. Let's say there are two users:  "Louie" and "Dewey" --  Depending upon how you created the profiles --One should show 'Local Account' (password protected)  - or - ' Local Account Administrator' (password protected.)  IF there is just ONE account it is most likely and should be an Administrator account.  I have two profiles set up (for MYSELF).  One I created as an Admin Account and the other a Local Account (for my own protection.)  I use my Local Account 90% of the time.  You will need to run the Admin account to make any major changes to your computer. This article, although a few years old, gives a good brief overview.  -- Worth a read:

    https://www.maketecheasier.com/why-you-shouldnt-use-admin-account/

The first paragraph: "Just about everyone uses an administrator account for the primary computer account. But there are security risks associated with that. If a malicious program or attackers are able to get control of your user account, they can do a lot more damage with an administrator account than with a standard account. You can protect yourself by using a standard account as your primary account and then temporarily elevating permissions when you need to make administrator changes."

You mentioned "deleting apps" that you recently downloaded.. I hope you mean you will UNINSTALL the apps through the control panel, not just delete them! I'm also hoping the apps were from a reputable site.  I would first update your antivirus and do a scan.  You can also get the free version of malwarebytes and run a scan from that too.  You can UNINSTALL malwarebytes after that as well as your free anti-virus program and try to update windows again.  If that doesn't help, install your anti-virus program again.

One last thing I'm curious about:  could you do the following and show the windows updates that come up.  Click on:

If after this you are ready, willing and able to try to update to 20H2 using the update assistant, that would be another option for you.

That process has a list of prerequisites to do before beginning it, so I'd hold off even if you find the page and are tempted to go for it.

Also:  I don't use chrome so I can't answer that question.  Perhaps SOMEONE may be able to tell you.

Perhaps another SOMEONE also has an answer to this continuing saga.  If only!!  Let's try to hang in there Louie and find a solution.

    Have a good night.
