This is a summary of the cumulative updates released on March 9th for all the supported consumer releases of Windows 10.

Known issues with KB5000802 and KB5000808

Symptom Workaround
System and user certificates might be lost when updating a device from Windows 10, version 1809 or later to a later version of Windows 10. Devices will only be impacted if they have already installed any Latest cumulative update (LCU) released September 16, 2020 or later and then proceed to update to a later version of Windows 10 from media or an installation source which does not have an LCU released October 13, 2020 or later integrated. This primarily happens when managed devices are updated using outdated bundles or media through an update management tool such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. This might also happen when using outdated physical media or ISO images that do not have the latest updates integrated. <br> <br>NoteDevices using Windows Update for Business or that connect directly to Windows Update are not impacted. Any device connecting to Windows Update should always receive the latest versions of the feature update, including the latest LCU, without any extra steps. If you have already encountered this issue on your device, you can mitigate it within the uninstall window by going back to your previous version of Windows using the instructions here. The uninstall window might be 10 or 30 days depending on the configuration of your environment and the version you’re updating to. You will then need to update to the later version of Windows 10 after the issue is resolved in your environment. NoteWithin the uninstall window, you can increase the number of days you have to go back to your previous version of Windows 10 by using the DISM command /Set-OSUninstallWindow. You must make this change beforethe default uninstall window has lapsed. For more information, see DISM operating system uninstall command-line options. <br> <br>We are working on a resolution and will provide updated bundles and refreshed media in the coming weeks.
(KB5000802 only) When using the Microsoft Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) to enter Kanji characters in an app that automatically allows the input of Furigana characters, you might not get the correct Furigana characters. You might need to enter the Furigana characters manually. <br> <br>NoteThe affected apps are using the ImmGetCompositionString() function. We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
After installing this update, you might receive an APC_INDEX_MISMATCH error with a blue screen when attempting to print to certain printers in some apps. Issue resolved with an out-of-band update.
After installing updates released March 9, 2021 or March 15, 2021, you might get unexpected results when printing from some apps. Issues might include:<br><ul style="margin-right: 0; margin-left: 0; color: rgba(54, 54, 54, 1)"><li style="margin-left: 0"><p style="color: rgba(30, 30, 30, 1)">Elements of the document might print as solid black/color boxes or might be missing, including barcodes, QR codes, and graphics elements, such as logos.</p></li><li style="margin-left: 0"><p style="color: rgba(30, 30, 30, 1)">Table lines might be missing. Other alignment or formatting issues might also be present.</p></li><li style="margin-left: 0"><p style="color: rgba(30, 30, 30, 1)">Printing from some apps or to some printers might result in a blank page or label.</p></li></ul> Resolved - Install KB5001649 from the links below.

    The latest Windows update is a DISASTER.

    Suddenly, a responsive, usable laptop that I was happy with turned into a sluggish disaster. 

    Working in Gmail (can I say that here?) has become a nightmare.

    I need to click on things repeatedly for the laptop to respond. There are numerous other response problems. 

    PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS NIGHTMARE OF AN UPDATE.

    Hi. I'm not a computer whiz or tech, but you mentioned that your laptop is now suggish. Windows comes with a lot of tools to help with your laptop being sluggish.

    Before you use those tools, however, you should create a restore point. Click on the windows icon, and then type in the search bar "Create a restore point". When it appears, click on it and that will open up the app. Select your C drive and then click Create.

    After that's done, you can use "Disk Cleanup" There should be several files you can delete like temporary files, temporary internet files, windows update cleanup, thumbnails, etc. That should free up a lot of space, etc.

    You can also clean up your cache, cookies, etc. by using the "Internet Options" feature. Just type that in the search bar and click on it when it pops up. Look below browsing history, and click on "delete". Several options of what you can delete which will help in speeding things up.

    You should also use Defragment and Optimize Drives tool to defrag the C drive. Type that in the search bar and then click on it. OS (C:) Hard drive should already be highlighted. Click on Analyze and then click on Optimize. That should help speed up your laptop quite a bit.

    As far as registry cleaners go, several people use CC Cleaner, etc. As far as me, I would recommend anyone to not use registry cleaners. Sometime they can do damage by by getting rid of registry files you may actually need.

    I learned the hard way with an older Dell laptop I had a few years back. I used CC Cleaner to clean the registry. After using it, I no longer had my touchpad and couldn't do anything. I had to do an F12 (I believe it was F12. Either that or F4.) right at boot up and check for errors there. Since then, a good friend of mine that was Microsoft MVP suggested to never us a registry cleaner because they can actually screw up your OS like what happened with me. You're also not really freeing up a lot space, either. After what happened with me, I go by the motto that it's better to be safe than sorry.

    I hope some of this helps. It may not be the solution you need, but it might help.
