I would not consider changing the registry until I had a complete backup of my personal files. You should always do this anyway as a computer hard drive can fail without warning. (or windows is corrupted)
So concentrate on the backup first.

Hello All
Hope You All Are Doing Great..
So I Was Having Problems With The Windows Update, Searched On Internet But Didn’t Find Any Usable Results; So I Decided To Do An In-Place Upgrade> Downloaded MCT>Got A Fresh Copy Of Windows Iso…
But
When I Started The Setup, It Showed That The “Keep Personal Files, Apps And Settings” Is Greyed Out, And The “Keep Personal Files Option” Is Greyed Out Too..
So I Was Left With Just Nothing Option But Had A Whooping 50 Gb Off Photos,Videos And Docs On My Pc And No One Would Like To Ever Wipe Of Them..
And The Reason Was That “Your Files, Apps, And Settings Can’t Be Kept Because Your Current Version Of Windows Might Be Installed In An Unsupported Directory Or You’re Trying To Install An Older Version Of Windows.”
Again Searched Internet And Found About The Registry And Directories But My PC Was Good In The Registry…
So I Found That This Is A Bug With Windows 10 Version 19042 At This Site: [Fix] Can't Repair Install Windows 10 20H2 - Your Windows Guide …
So Should I Make The Changes Because The Site States That “Important : The Fix Is Only ApplicableTo Windows 10 Version 20H2 Build 19042. DoingThis On Other Releases May Lead To PC InAn Unbootable State.”
Any Suggestion Or Fix Will Be Really Helpful

I did the backup but still if the personal files and apps are there left intact, It Would Be great; Also I never had problems while updating windows but this is the first time I ever have a problem
Be sure you have USB boot media (just in case) by using the Media Creation Tool, so you can clean install Windows 10 if required.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
If you have that boot media then you have a the ability to install windows again. When you create that you can try the repair install using the USB but make the computer will boot from it before making registry changes.
I can't comment if the registry changes have any chance of correcting the fault but do remember other users getting the same message. They clean installed in the end.
Yes But I Also Burned The ISO Files To a USB.. So If I Make The Registry Changes And If something goes wrong (I Hope it does not),then revert the registry using the CMD in recovery media, Will Windows Boot Up Again?
Also can any suggest why this is happening or any other fix to it?
Hello, I’m Virginia an independent advisor with 20 years of expertise in fixing my own & friends’ PC problems.
There’s a bug in the 20H2 update which affected the repair & users couldn’t choose to keep anything, this was fixed with a cumulative update last November:
https://www.tenforums.com/windows-10-news/16823...
Are you fully up to date?
There’s also a batch file here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repai... which will fix the problem.
I wouldn’t recommend changing the registry unless you have a full system image of your PC.
