[Windows update installing the new Edge browser] Update KB4559309 Makes Computer Unbearably Slow

Last night I updated my windows 10 pro using KB:4559309. Since then my computer performance has absolutely tanked. my startup time is probably triple, loading any window has a few second delay.

I attempted to uninstall the update however windows tells me that it is required and cannot be removed.

This update has essentially rendered my brand new computer useless.

Please help!

Hey there, everyone

I have spoken to Missy Quarry, from the Edge team, and they are investigating this problem. However, they really need more details submitted though the Feedback Hub on Windows 10.

To submit feedback, please go to start > Feedback Hub.

You will need to click onto report a problem. Then enter your feedback/problem you are having with Microsoft Edge. On the categories you will need to make sure you have the following drop down options selected in the image underneath:

The more detail you can submit, the better it will be for the Edge team to find out what is causing this issue. So the detail box that has the test comment, should detail everything you are experiencing.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

The same happens to me. Since I installed the latest update, the computer has been running very slow and it is almost impossible to work.

    Paul,

I had uninstalled Edge because it was slow; then it automatically updated a month later as 4559309.  It may be my imagination but:  I went to the … icon which lists a bunch of features;  at the end there is the "settings" option.  I clicked on that.  There was a list of options - more then with my windows 10 Edge version - and at the bottom it had "About Edge."  I clicked on that.  It started updating Edge!!  When it finished, I restarted my computer.

I genuinely believe that this "manual Update" to Edge made the browser faster.

I tested the "manual update" again today and, after the update, it said "restart edge."

Maybe the "manual update" speeds things up.

    Good luck!

Ever since the update KB4559309 was installed on my Lenovo Ideapad 110 laptop on 6/20/2020, I began having problems with lagging and freezing during Skype calls.  Tried Zoom and same thing. First called my ISP provider and they installed a fiber optic line going into my home so that the speed is faster.  However, I had slower speeds before and never had this problem.  I am still lagging and freezing and when I do speedtests, I can see where the speed is not consistent and there are big drops in the download speed.

I have called Microsoft Support and they have done some things to my laptop, but after the second call they told me to contact my ISP provider.  I don't believe it's a provider issue.  I think it's the update because my problem began IMMEDIATELY after that install.   NOTE:  when I plug an ETHERNET cable directly into the router and my laptop, there is NO problem.
