[Windows update installing the new Edge browser] Update KB4559309 Makes Computer Unbearably Slow

Last night I updated my windows 10 pro using KB:4559309. Since then my computer performance has absolutely tanked. my startup time is probably triple, loading any window has a few second delay.

I attempted to uninstall the update however windows tells me that it is required and cannot be removed.

This update has essentially rendered my brand new computer useless.

Please help!

Hey there, everyone

I have spoken to Missy Quarry, from the Edge team, and they are investigating this problem. However, they really need more details submitted though the Feedback Hub on Windows 10.

To submit feedback, please go to start > Feedback Hub.

You will need to click onto report a problem. Then enter your feedback/problem you are having with Microsoft Edge. On the categories you will need to make sure you have the following drop down options selected in the image underneath:

The more detail you can submit, the better it will be for the Edge team to find out what is causing this issue. So the detail box that has the test comment, should detail everything you are experiencing.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

FYI: will all users of this forum please be aware that occasionally "bad actors" (hackers) will attempt to post suspect links on here, that may try to download malware on your device. Microsoft moderators seem to remove them quite quickly, but DO mouse-over any links that do NOT go to any well-known site or information source, and if you do NOT recognize it, do NOT click just to "see what it does". If you DO inadvertently click on something, and you get asked for a login, it will be bogus, bail out and exit, then run a full system scan ASAP.

NOTE: users who get notification emails can STILL get these bad posts into their inbox, even after Moderators have removed the abusive post, so again, do NOT click on anything that looks suspicious or off-topic. The best way to check is click on the REPLY TO POST blue box, and if the post is NOT THERE, then it will be bogus, as it will have been removed on here,so delete those emails straight away.

That sound like your PC/Laptop is infected with a Trojan or Virus, or your browser has been "hijacked" by Malware - do a full system scan with whatever Anti Virus you have, and if you only have Windows Security (new name for Defender) go and run that, let it quarantine what it needs to, then reboot. If you do not know how to do any of that, take it to a PC repair shop and get them to check it out.

Another way could be to download the latest free version of MalwareBytes, install it, and do a full manual scan, if Windows Security does not find anything..

By the way, this forum is for issues with KB4559309 issues ONLY, so please re-post this on one of the Windows Security forum posts if you want to research more.
