[Windows update installing the new Edge browser] Update KB4559309 Makes Computer Unbearably Slow

Last night I updated my windows 10 pro using KB:4559309. Since then my computer performance has absolutely tanked. my startup time is probably triple, loading any window has a few second delay.

I attempted to uninstall the update however windows tells me that it is required and cannot be removed.

This update has essentially rendered my brand new computer useless.

Please help!

Hey there, everyone

I have spoken to Missy Quarry, from the Edge team, and they are investigating this problem. However, they really need more details submitted though the Feedback Hub on Windows 10.

To submit feedback, please go to start > Feedback Hub.

You will need to click onto report a problem. Then enter your feedback/problem you are having with Microsoft Edge. On the categories you will need to make sure you have the following drop down options selected in the image underneath:

The more detail you can submit, the better it will be for the Edge team to find out what is causing this issue. So the detail box that has the test comment, should detail everything you are experiencing.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

You can recover your Windows 10!

    1. Go to Start Menu
    2. Go to Settings
    3. Go to 🔄 Update & Security
    4. Go to Recovery

    And then you know...

@DeniseDonnelly2 - that is an interesting observation.

I see that the Intel® Computing Improvement Program was updated on 11th August to fix a vulnerability in an older release of it.

The later one is version 2.4.5718.

BUT I would be interested to know HOW that program ended up on your computer.

Was it bundled with something else?

Were you recommended by some email you received, or by a colleague, or technical friend to fix an issue?

Can you also be more specific about the "Intel Drivers" - were these done as part of the Computing Improvement Program install, or via a Windows Update, or via another program, or a manual driver update from the Device Manager?

For you or others, here below is a link to an Intel article, about using it, participating etc. that also describes how to remove it

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/idsa-cip.html

Have you followed the Feedback Hub recommendations mentioned many times in this article post (I think they may be very interested in this, if it is interfering with the normal performance of Windows 10 2004)? Especially if it happened to go in at similar times as the EDGE Update, I can see where some migh be confused, and blame the EDGE update.
