[Windows update installing the new Edge browser] Update KB4559309 Makes Computer Unbearably Slow

Last night I updated my windows 10 pro using KB:4559309. Since then my computer performance has absolutely tanked. my startup time is probably triple, loading any window has a few second delay.

I attempted to uninstall the update however windows tells me that it is required and cannot be removed.

This update has essentially rendered my brand new computer useless.

Please help!

Hey there, everyone

I have spoken to Missy Quarry, from the Edge team, and they are investigating this problem. However, they really need more details submitted though the Feedback Hub on Windows 10.

To submit feedback, please go to start > Feedback Hub.

You will need to click onto report a problem. Then enter your feedback/problem you are having with Microsoft Edge. On the categories you will need to make sure you have the following drop down options selected in the image underneath:

The more detail you can submit, the better it will be for the Edge team to find out what is causing this issue. So the detail box that has the test comment, should detail everything you are experiencing.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

@wingjam Google is a search engine, NOT a browser (unless you are on a phone, and the Google APP "wrapper" is there to confuse teenagers)!  What browser are you actually using (opera, Firefox, the old original IE)?

Also, if you used a third party "uninstaller" like IOBit, it may have left the system in a bad or broken state. You should ALWAYS use the standard uninstall mechanisms, so that the registry is manipulated properly, using the proper "uninstall" routines.

If you DO have a working browser, try downloading and installing Firefox, it is a good browser, then test that with the Edge download.

If there is stuff not working after that (because the system still thinks that EDGE is partially installed), try opening up a CMD (dos) prompt, but in ADMIN mode, and key in sfc /scannow

It will run for a while, and might seem to hang in places, just let it complete, then reboot. Retest.
