AirPod Pros Keep Cutting In and Out

I have a pair of AirPod Pros that I've had for a couple of weeks. Every time I connect them, the audio is fine but then a few seconds later the audio keeps cutting in and out.  I have tried everything from disconnecting to reconnecting them, updating my Bluetooth driver, and trying everything I've found online but nothing works. The AirPod Pro's work perfectly fine on my phone, but not on my computer. And it's not just YouTube that I'm having the problem with, I tried using Spotify and Netflix with my AirPod Pro's and the audio keeps cutting out there as well. It's extremely frustrating, so if someone could help me I would appreciate it a ton.

Hi guys, already tried enabling the "Windows Sonic for Headphone" in the Spatial sound format, as well as "Disable all enhancements" like the window's 10 audio troubleshooter suggests to do.

Airpods sound keeps cutting out after a few minutes, the device does not loose connection, media controls keep functioning too.

For convenience, I've disabled the "Hands-Free AG Audio" protocol because they sound like ****.

The fastest way I've discovered to recover audio for my airpods is:

    1. click sound tray icon (which opens the volume level and audio device switch)
    2. click any other volume level

Beeps that O.S. notification and the other sounds playing get back.

Sometimes that doesn't work. Then I disconnect the bluetooth device in the system settings and connect back again. It's SUPER tedious and frustrating. I understand that Apple may have to "do it's magic" beyond the standard bluetooth protocol, but I don't agree to not have at least BASIC FEATURE SUPPORT for such a huge operating system as Windows 10. Microsoft and Apple, please shake your hands on this

Regarding your claim that airpods were only meant to work with apple devices. I'm using them on an LG tv and I have no problem with them. They just don't work on windows, it seems.

    Hi,

Apple AirPods Pro use Bluetooth 5.0 (although they will work with earlier Bluetooth chipsets they will lack functionality as many of you have discovered - and it is seriously frustrating I know!)

Apple supported Bluetooth 5.0 from the iPhone 8.

PC manufacturers have been much slower to move to Bluetooth 5.0 and even relatively recent PCs will not support 5.0

To check which version of Bluetooth your Windows 10 PC (hardware) supports, see this article:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-bluetooth-version-is-on-my-pc-f5d4cff7-c00d-337b-a642-d2d23b082793

Go into Device Manager, expand Bluetooth, click on the Bluetooth radio entry, click on 'Advanced' and look at the firmware version.

The firmware LMP version that your Bluetooth hardware supports translates to a Bluetooth version.

Bluetooth 5.0 is LMP 9 (or later).

If your firmware version is LMP 8 or below Bluetooth 5.0 is not supported.

The solution - for the AirPods Pro to work perfectly - is to use a Bluetooth 5.0 USB adapter. Or buy a new PC (!!).

Bluetooth 5.0 USB adapters are not expensive. You can pay a lot for a Jabra or Sennheiser adapter for example, but you don't need to.

There are plenty of Bluetooth 5.0 adapters on Amazon for under GBP 10 (USD 15). They work really well - most use the Realtek chipset.

This one from KKSH is GBP 8.99 and is highly rated:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08SW6ML9B/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o00\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use one in an older laptop (LMP 8 - Bluetooth 4.2) and the AirPods Pro deliver great interruption-free audio and handsfree (i.e. with microphone) in Teams and Skype etc.

Disable the onboard Bluetooth on your PC in Device Manager (right click the Bluetooth radio – and click on Disable Device. For the option to appear you need to disconnect from all Bluetooth devices first).

Insert the Bluetooth 5.0 adapter into a USB port. Windows will recognise it as a 'Generic Bluetooth Radio'. Then install the drivers that come with the adapter on a mini CD.

You’ll need to restart your PC once the driver has been installed (just follow the on screen instructions).

Re-pair the AirPods Pro with Windows (put them in the case, open the lid, press and hold the button on the back until the light flashes white).

    And Boom! (literally :- )

    Hope that helps.

    Richard
