How to stop being logged out of everything automatically when I turn off my laptop

Can anyone help me please?  I installed a Windows 10 update on 23 June 2020 and, ever since then, whenever I turn my laptop on (after it being shut down) I find that have been logged off from everything.  This didn't happen prior to the update and it is happening every time I turn my laptop back on.  So it looks like when I shut down my laptop it is automatically logging me out of every application so when I turn it back on I have to log in to everything all over again (Outlook, OneDrive etc.)  Is there anything I can do to stop this?  It's infuriating!  Also, info that is usually remembered on websites that I use frequently e.g. ID numbers, passwords etc are also cleared whenever I shut down my laptop, even though I am checking the 'keep me logged in' boxes.  Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hi,

I had same issue as described. Although I did a lot of registry / settings changes before, I wasnt sure if thats what causes the issue.

After 14 days of constant reloging to everything I said enough. For some reason, this was caused in my case because of -> quick launch was disabled.

Try going to Control panel -> Power options -> Set power buttons -> And in option there is "Enable quick start". Enabling this feature helped me from getting logged out after every restart / turn off. Hopefully this will resolve your issue.

Using DISM or SFC didnt help me at all - but you can still try it.

    Hello,

Whenever I turn my laptop off it logs me out of everything and when I turn it back on I have to sign back into all my apps. For example, I use teams for online lessons and it logs me out so I have to log back in. I would appreciate it if someone could help me. And all my files have disappeared, I cant find them anywhere.

I get a window that says I do not have permissions to save files to this location. Select another location to save files.

As we have discovered in this forum, the logout problem can be due to any number of things. You might try using Firefox as your browser, as it has its own cookie cache. Most other common browsers (Chrome and others using the Chrome engine, like Edge) use a common cookie cache. However, at least one Firefox user has encountered this problem. You might have created this problem by using certain browser options like "clear cache on exit" or "private browsing" or by using certain PC "cleaning" tools. My problem was caused by Google Chrome Elevation Service. I disabled it and the problem was solved. Later I re-enabled it to assure Chrome updating, but the problem has not returned. Maybe it was broken and got updated.

I don't have an easy answer for you about your files disappearing. Could be malware. Maybe they got moved to the cloud, if you have a cloud service such as iCloud. If you want to search your hard drive or SSD for them, be aware that some folders hare "hidden" in Windows Explorer and you have to change a "view" option to make them show, or even appear in a search. Be aware that when you mean to copy a file using drag-and-drop, you may remove the original. I have noticed that drag-and-drop with Windows Explorer now "moves" instead of "copies." If you saved your now-missing files to other media (flash drive, external drive, cloud) you might have inadvertently "moved" them. If you had done that, I assume that you would remember the backup. However, this is a good reminder to always back up your files, preferably to two different places.

I'm not sure how that relates to the cited posting. I can see how you might have gotten a message that you do not have permission to open or look in a protected folder. I'm not sure what you would be attempting to save there.

To access a protected folder, search on Google for topics such as "take ownership." However, you should probably only do that as a last resort. Unless you know what you are doing, messing with protected folders can get you in trouble. If you must do this, back up your system first.

Assuming that you are struggling with being logged out of everything on startup or reboot, I would recommend looking at other potential solutions first.
