Your Phone calls unusable due to too much echo

I have setup Your Phone on my PC and Phone Companion on my phone (Nokia 7.1) - both devices have latest software and are fully patched.

While I can make and receive phone calls via the Your Phone app on the PC (and they sound fine at my end) the other parties all complain of excessive echo so that I need to conduct the call on the phone.

My mic and speaker settings are the same as I use for Skype, Zoom, Hangouts, etc. - how do I trouble shoot this? 

Is it possibly caused by the mic / speakers on the phone remaining active during the call?

I deavticivated AGC in the Mic settings and it worked for me

    Thanks!  Unfortunately my setup is without headphones.  I'm using a Pixel 5 phone BT to my NUC PC which has an array mic, playing audio on a USB speaker connected to the NUC.  The problem I guess is that MS has not put a feedback filter (I'm not sure what the correct term is in these circumstances) into the Your Phone app to stop echo for open air conversations.  But all other apps do this - Zoom, MS Teams among others.  It seems so lame on the part of MS... I guess their primary market is open-space office workers.  If I'm missing something with your solution that I can use please let me know!

    Hello Guys, 

    I had the same problem with my Surface Pro 7, 

    And today I had an update of Your Phone app, and the new 20H2 Windows update.

    The echo is gone, everything works great, but I don't now if it's the windows update or the app update that solve the problem.

    Hi,

    for all having problems with echo I found a solution.

    In registry ediitor find microphone in my case was:

    "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\MMDevices\Audio\Capture{812669d2-ef25-4860-a9b4-ab64cb4fb068}"

    Create new key "FxProperties"

    Add DWORD "{1da5d803-d492-4edd-8c23-e0c0ffee7f0e},5" with value "1"

    I don't think this is a comparable environment. Please look up "USB audio interface".
