I have a 4.5 year old dell Precision T1700 with RAID 1 dual hard drives, that came with windows 7 pro and we immediately updated to windows 10. This driver update killed me on reboot. I was presented with the troubleshoot, continue or shut down blue screen.
Selected shutdown, then powered back up. Windows blew up, said it had to repair stuff and then actually started ok. I did notice after the restart that the Rapid Storage Technology system tray icon said it failed to start. I rolled back the driver, but
mine rolled back to version 13.1.0.1058 dated May 2, 2014. This is the latest version of this driver listed on Dell for my service tag. After the restart the pc was fine, and the Rapid Storage Technology icon said it was running and was OK. I tried to use
the link to KB 3073930 to stop the driver from installing again, but the update is not listed using that tool, and running windows update, the update was also not listed. Hopefully Microsoft has removed this update for my PC.
THANKS so much for this article and the solution!!!
