Windows Booting very slow after 2004 update ,

I have recently installed version 2004 and everything is working fine.My boot time is still the same as before the update which is 24 seconds.I cannot imagine what it feels like to have to wait 15 minutes.The best change i ever made was to install a ssd drive.

Im have an ssd as boot drive before I installed update, suggested steps did not solve issue, except a clean install.

Thank your very much for your input.  It would appear a SSD might resolve my problem - you and several other posts attest.  My laptop (Asus) is a few years old so no doubt I would need to weigh the age factor against the cost of a new drive.  I don't have the necessary tools or knowledge to do the upgrade so I would also need to weigh professional upgrade costs against a new laptop.  Frustrating as my laptop runs fine after the inordinate bootup time - albeit after following some other advice and making changes to services.msc the laptop is running slower.

Boot up takes upwards to 15 minutes and sometime requires a reboot for apps to work especially Outlook 365.  This since the update to 2004.  No problem running any app once the computer fully boots (after 15 minutes).  Frustrating as I had no problem prior to 2004.

@MarylinAtchley1 - you do not need to be a programmer to do this - the experienced poster happens to be one.

The tool to do this (Services.msc) is in windows in part of the Control Panel or Settings part. You can go directly to the services control tool that does this by right-click on the start-menu icon (bottom left), choose Run, then key in "services.msc" without the quotes, click OK.

When it starts, you will see a new windows start up, listing all of the services. Scroll down to "sysmain", right click and choose stop. Then right click it again and choose "Properties", then choose disable.

In that same window, scroll down and find Windows Search, right click on that line and choose Stop. Wait for it to stop, then right click on it again, choose properties, choose disable. Close the window.

Reboot and check things again.

By the way, some users are finding that the install of the new Chrome Based Edge browser is affecting performance as well, especially if done via update KB4559309 (see the other forum on that subject).
