Windows Live Mail cannot display message after Windows 10 update

My laptop recently updated windows 10 (I think #1909) on it's own.  After the update, my Windows Live Mail quit working.  It downloads the message headers/titles, so I know it's connecting to the gmail server, but when I try to open the message, I get the error, "Message Can't be Displayed.  Windows live mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or disk space and try again."  I have plenty of memory and disk space.  Thanks for any suggestions!  (And yes, I know I should go to a newer email client, but I have too much wrapped up in Windows Live and just want to fix it!)  Rick

    Fantastic! Thanks Tom and Rick for allowing me to continue to use WLM. Curiously, only one of the accounts for which I use WLM (gmail) was affected by the latest W10 update. The others (including another gmail account) continued to work as normal.

    Me too - ie I also was using WLM to fetch from Gmail.

    So seems to be a WLM / Gmail glitch.....

    I lied, I cannot access gmail from WLM and have not been able to since April.  Earlier I tried to acess by updating the password in WLM, and WLM said it synchronized at first, don't know why.  Lucky I don't use gmail for anything except my android devices.  Gmail should allow you so specifically allow certain clients for access and still keep 2-step authorization on, but they don't, and I don't need some hacker janking my cell phone accounts.

    My suggestion to all is to ditch gmail as your main email address.  It's a terrible email service.  I use zoho.com.  Free, easy, and they do not force you to use a worthless spam filter.  I switched from hotmail to zoho after hotmail made it so you cannot shut off spam filtering, and lately hotmail has taken to BLOCKING email that they think is spam.  I cannot get emails at all from several popular services for account verification, including Steam. (I still need to use hotmail access for old accounts). (Spam filtering is literally worthless.  Every spam filter tells users to periodically check their spam folder for legit email.  Well, if you need to sort through them all anyway, why bother with the filter? Just send it to my inbox when it comes, thanks.)

    Forward all of your incoming gmail to your main email account and that's it.

    Gmail is a pain in the a55 as they continuously, against the customer's will, reset your email settings to block outside programs from accessing your gmail.  They say it's for security, but once you specifically allow it they should not be blocking it anymore.  I say they do it so you're forced to use gmail directly in order to see their ads.

    My gmail on WLM works after fixing WLM.  ALL of my clients were affected, including the two corporate accounts I use.

    All is fine now.

    OK John, seems we've got a winner here, worked as magic, thank you!

    WLM is easy to use, simple and yet cover pretty much all I need from the email nowadays

    I also wish they would just work on get it updated
