Windows Live Mail cannot display message after Windows 10 update

My laptop recently updated windows 10 (I think #1909) on it's own.  After the update, my Windows Live Mail quit working.  It downloads the message headers/titles, so I know it's connecting to the gmail server, but when I try to open the message, I get the error, "Message Can't be Displayed.  Windows live mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or disk space and try again."  I have plenty of memory and disk space.  Thanks for any suggestions!  (And yes, I know I should go to a newer email client, but I have too much wrapped up in Windows Live and just want to fix it!)  Rick

    An update to all. The latest version of eM Client can now be configured to look and feel like WLM....ALMOST. The only thing different on the screen I cannot change is making the buttons at the top large like WLM, and the search bar is on the right side of the screen. Everything else is configurable, including the size of all the different text on the screen, the windows positions, etc.

    Features above WLM

    eM Client also has a bunch more features:

    • No more errors using Gmail accounts because WLM is so old Gmail doesn't like the security
    • No periodic crashing like WLM
    • Slightly better search bar functions
    • Ability to put an icon or image next to each email account
    • Ability to separately tag by color specific emails
    • More control over buttons and position
    • Color themes
    • It's not a crappy Microsoft product

    Features it does not have that WLM does:

    • Cannot color the text of the email account names on the left to make them easier to see
    • Search bar on the right which cannot be moved
    • Large buttons at the top

    (It should be noted eM Client personnel indicated they might integrate all of these features in an upcoming release.)

    It took me about 2 days to get used to the slightly new interface, but it's running smoother.

    Now if I can just find a viable alternative to Windows.......

    Fantastic advisory John;

    Lots of us from the old Outlook Express / WLM (ie simple) backgrounds would like an alternative mail client.

    I did use Thunderbird but it became sooooo slow moving single emails into a folder that I finally ditched it.

    (any idea if that issue was solved? - was a while back....)

    Will look at eM Client.

    I haven't tried Thunderbird in many years, but I hated it when I did.

    eM Client lightning fast so far. Has the same or even faster ability to search emails than WLM. Folder transfer of emails also fast.
