Issue

I downloaded the Feature Update 2004 and tried to installed it 3 times. Each time all went good without error, then it ask for restart, so I click the "Restart and Update", then it reboot (1st time) but before accessing the authentication page it reboot again (2nd time) then again before accessing the authentication page it reboot again (3rd time) this time it's really longer (as if the update was finally applying), it goes to teh authentication page. I log in, then I check and the I'm still at update 1909.

In the Windows update history I can see an error code: 0xc1900101. Nowhere else I can see an error.

The two first times I tried to update and it fails when I went in Windows Update and clicked "Check for updates" I saw the 2004 update available and was able to download and install it again. But since last try it now tells me I'm up to date yet I'm still at update 1909 and 2004 failed to apply.

PS: I have Core Protection disabled.

PS2: Windows Update troubleshooter says all is fine.

If you experience this issue on ASRock motherboard make sure that you've updated to the latest available BIOS.

Then Enter the BIOS (F2) and Turn off (Compatibility Support Module) 

After you changed the BIOS setting run Windows10Upgrade9252.exe available for download on microsoft website url: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=799445

Problem solved.

    Thanks. I resolved the issue too with help from Microsoft Chat. MS Chat suggested I look to see if there were any pending updates. There were. After these were installed the automatic update also installed without error.

    This is exactly what I needed to get this update to go through.  Disabling that NET Framework made my computer so much faster as an added bonus.  Thank you!!!

    I found that Microsoft was very patient and helpful when I used the chat option on the Update History window. I mistakenly had previously thought the update was successful because there was no error logged but I found that the OS was returning to a restore point. The notice to update was now in red because 19Hxx was no longer supported. I had several "chats" with Microsoft trying different solutions. They suggested I install an HP tool to check for HP updates. The tool said the laptop was up to date. Microsoft sent me a link to HP Support. An HP tech found my laptop BOIS version would not support 20Hxx or the newly released 21H version of Windows 10. As soon as the new BOIS had finished installing, the laptop immediately automatically installed Windows10 21H1 as a fresh OS install. This happed because I had the .iso and EFI file ready to boot from as part of earlier attempts by Microsoft techs to fix the problem. I just needed to install the apps and recreate the shares on the second physical drive and all was well. I hope all the rest of you are successful in updating from W10 19H 10.0.18xxx. Cheers, Lewis
